Grant I'm sorry for your loss but happy that you have so many great memories of your beloved mate. It still amazes me how our pets work their way into our hearts and how much it saddens us when its their time to go. My best to you.

That looks great Maury. I'm glad, and I bet you are too, that you bit the bullet and redid it. -

Great work Bob. Those stern ports looked like they would be a little, as you put it "fussy", but they look perfect. Enjoy your planking.- 525 replies

Hi Grant. Well done mate. I think I saw the gnat's hair but not the aforementioned alleged alignment issue. I do know what you mean though. We work so closely on all the pieces and when they aren't absolutely perfect they look like a drunk was running roughshod over our work. Keep up the fine work.

Hi Bob. Tremendous job. You've made a fantastic model from what was truly a, let's say, difficult start. Your perseverance really paid off two fold. You ended up with what was an enjoyable experience and we had the pleasure and a tremendous amount of enjoyment following along. Well done mate and on to the new build!

Hi Bob, Well I'm finishing up an Occre Xebec "Cazador" for my grandson. Been building it on and off for three years now. No build log but I'll post pics when completed. Got some catching up to do on various things around the home that I'm behind on too. Hopefully that will put me on track to start the Cheerful when you do. I've ordered the parts and plans now I just need to get things squared away.

Hi Maury, Very nice catch there. Everything is looking really nice. -
Thanks for the props Augie. Yes it's boxwood and you can see it was cut from different batches of wood. I never noticed the color difference until I started planking her. Thankfully as it ages the difference is not so obvious.

Hi Augie, Really nice workmanship. I agree the water ways and margin plank on both sides looks good. Copies of the plans are a must for aligning the lower stanchions. Great job!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
