  1. Well done Bob. Your method works really well and looks great.
  2. Great work Bob. Those stern ports looked like they would be a little, as you put it "fussy", but they look perfect. Enjoy your planking.
  3. Very nice start Bob. Careful you don't get caught speeding and get a ticket!
  4. Hi Grant. Well done mate. I think I saw the gnat's hair but not the aforementioned alleged alignment issue. I do know what you mean though. We work so closely on all the pieces and when they aren't absolutely perfect they look like a drunk was running roughshod over our work. Keep up the fine work.
  5. Hi Chuck. The planking looks great and I'm glad to see you've gotten some time to work on the Cheerful.
  6. Hi Bob, Great to see that you have started on your Cheerful. You sure don't let any grass grow under your feet! I'm looking forward to following along with you and eventually building too.
  7. Hi Bob. Tremendous job. You've made a fantastic model from what was truly a, let's say, difficult start. Your perseverance really paid off two fold. You ended up with what was an enjoyable experience and we had the pleasure and a tremendous amount of enjoyment following along. Well done mate and on to the new build!
  8. Hi Bob, Well I'm finishing up an Occre Xebec "Cazador" for my grandson. Been building it on and off for three years now. No build log but I'll post pics when completed. Got some catching up to do on various things around the home that I'm behind on too. Hopefully that will put me on track to start the Cheerful when you do. I've ordered the parts and plans now I just need to get things squared away.
  9. Great job Mobbsie. Your joints and finish is perfect. Love it!
  10. Hi Bob. It's been real fun following along with you on this build and admiring your wonderful workmanship. I'll miss this build almost as much as you probably will.
  11. Hi Maury, Very nice catch there. Everything is looking really nice.
  12. Thanks for the props Augie. Yes it's boxwood and you can see it was cut from different batches of wood. I never noticed the color difference until I started planking her. Thankfully as it ages the difference is not so obvious.
  13. Hi Grant. Looking really good there. Those mini spales are great. I wish I had them when doing the deck clamps.
  14. Hi Vic. Your doing a fantastic job on your Confederacy. As they say you've gotta keep the admiral (boss) happy. Ben is busy in the scratch build section doing a pof Pegasus.
  15. Hi Augie, Really nice workmanship. I agree the water ways and margin plank on both sides looks good. Copies of the plans are a must for aligning the lower stanchions. Great job!
  16. Great job on the rigging Bob. As Augie said its pure gold.
  17. Hi Bob. You're masts and rigging are outstanding. So crisp and clean. I'm really enjoying following along.
  18. Hi Grant. Best of luck to you on your surgery. That shell room was one testy little jig saw puzzle. Hopefully you've got it licked now. Again my best to you for a speedy recovery!
  19. Hi Ben. There sure is a lot of sanding on a big frame like that. I too sanded to 150 grit on the areas to be planked and then progressively down to 400. Very seldom did I go any finer than that. Keep up the great work.
  20. Great work Mobbsie. I danced to that tune whilst building that too. You got a good ear for the music
  21. Very nice Maury. Reading this really makes me want to dive in and join you! I'll just have to settle for watching your fine workmanship.
