  1. I share your views and am well aware of the sensitivity issues. I am still curious about any policies that exist here.
  2. You have raised an interesting question on insignias, Alex. As a modeler, I have my own opinion on this issue. But I am curious as to what 'policy', if any, MSW has.
  3. PS----- the last name is Bruno, by the way. If you happen to be in the Philly area and need a favor, tell 'em you know me.
  4. This whole thing is reminiscent of a situation that occured a few years back in the RC model aircraft world. One or two manufacturers of full scale civilian aircraft started to make a big deal out of people building models of their planes. Could you imagine being sued for building a model of a 2 seat airplane designed in 1958? The movement apparently died ---- or at least no one paid attention and no enforcement ever took place. In the vast majority of cases, this type of 'infringement' serves to give positive publicity to the original party. Such as pictures of a kit box. Plans should be a different story but only if they are distributed for commercial purposes.
  5. Seas are getting a little heavy for my taste. I just consider anything I put on MSW to be in the public domain (except for my cracks about Popeye's hair).
  6. I agree with Bob on using the prestain. It certainly helps eliminate the 'blotchiness' you sometimes get during staining. But I'm pretty sure JP had something else going on there.
  7. This should be interesting, Popeye. I wasn't aware of the problem with the decking joints. Your idea to replace the deck with wood sounds like a really viable upgrade and I'm looking forward to seeing it....I'll be following. Oh, who is that kid working on your ship?
  8. We, of the Clorox Brotherhood, salute you! But did you really need the lavender scented version? Personally, if the problem is resolved, I wouldn't go overboard on ALL the planks.
  9. I'm with you on gloss.....but it looks great here. These boats are real tributes to a time long passed. Beautiful work!
  10. You must have some skill ----- you've been promoted to Lieutenant! I guess I need to salute again.
  11. Larry- I'm not sure if it's technically correct but I did exactly what you are proposing and it came out fine. The only difference was I stained my waterways to match the deck rather than painting to match the bulwark.....but I also did that beforehand. Suggest you wait for other opinions.
