Today, I started by sanding the Coamings, starting with 400 grit sandpaper and working my way up to 800 grit sandpaper. I then applied the third coat of varnish. IWith 4 coats of varnish on the Mast and Boom, I turned my attention to finishing the Mast by painting the Masthead and Spreaders white. Next will be to finish the Cockpit coamings and start making the Sails. Here are the results

Hi Nils, The prototype looks good, the wider strakes do stand out more than on the pre-cast lifeboat. I am sure whatever you choose will be Amazing

Today, After another coat of Varnish was applied to the Spars ( Mast and Boom ) I turned my attention to installing the Cockpit coamings. I started by finalizing the fit. I then made the brace that fits between the Coamings on the forward bulkhead. Next, I made the forward Coaming block, I ( once satisfied with the fit ) I installed the coamings brace and block. I then stained the block and brace cherry red. Next will be to varnish the Cockpit Coamings. Here are the results

During this week, I have been sanding and varnishing the Hull, rub rails and toe rails. for the sanding. I started with 400 grit sandpaper and worked my way up to 800 grit sandpaper. I then would apply varnish wait 24 hours and re do the process. ( sanding and varnishing ) there are 6 coats of Epifanes varnish now on the Hull. I am pleased with how the varnish turned out, Next will be to complete varnishing the Spars ( mast and boom ) they currently both have 2 coats. Here are the results
