  1. There's a nice amount of detail on such a "simple" model.
  2. Weird that the filament reacted differently. Any difference (brand? material?) between the two other than one being new?
  3. Looks good, but I think it still needs to be slowed down for both strokes unless you're setting up for "ram speed". Once you add the scale length to oars, at this speed I think they'll be a blur but that can sorted later. Way back in the lost MSW (before the Big Crash), there was a builder who did a static ship (Roman I think) with rowing oar movement. Rather impressive it was to see.
  4. Surprising detail on such a tiny model. Impressive.

  8. Work is going on on the replica. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-59236347
  9. As for "messed up".... I know of no builder is ever completely happy with their work. There's always something they felt could have been done better.
  10. I agree with Roger on the drilling. Maybe a small hand drill instead of power as it will cut and not get hot enough to melt the plastic. As for being scratch... yes, you're in the right place even with the components you're using.
  11. Ah.. gray cards and film. Remember them semi-fondly. Was doing drag race photography for a few years back in the early 80's and then developing and printing for the racers to buy the next weekend. The nice part of digital is no darkroom work and chemicals.
  12. I think I'd go with what's in the photo of the Cairo since that's the ship you're building.
  13. One of our members whom I haven't seen posting of late has this for his signature: "Do each piece as a model and at the end of the day, you have created more models than many do in a lifetime.". I may not have it correct but it has the thought.
  14. Welcome to MSW, Jorge. I totally agree with what Bob said.
  15. If I remember right, the rope wrapping was to protect the oarlock (as such that it was) and the oar itself from wear. It also silenced pretty much the oar made during rowing. If all else fails, just put a cover on the boats. But then again, no one can actually say that the oars are the wrong color.
  16. I suspect those may not be LED's but some of the old super mini bulbs or even some of the early LED fixtures. I had some in a display case for light and after about 8 years, they were dead.
  17. Thanks for looking in and your comments. For the most part, I'm taking the day off from sanding. Need to clear sinuses among other things.
  18. I hope surgery and recovery go well... Be careful as PE can be addictive
  19. Even weighty tomes are useful for something besides adorning our bookshelves.
  20. I feel the same way Druxey does. I will add that I think our projects somehow help us keep centered and able to shift focus as situations in life change.
  21. I think photos would help you get an answer.
  22. I think you're right about not making parts just once. I have a box full of scrap wood.... make that read; reworked parts.
