Good save on the planking. I think many of us are right there with you. A small mistake is measuring or cutting the planks and we end up trying to fix it.

Update... somewhat. I have the starboard side, sanded, filled, and I think ready for paint though painting is down the road a ways. Starting the other side of sand-fill-sand-fill... ad infinitum ad nauseam. I'll clean up the stern all at once after the port side is done. Here's pics....

Ship modeling is doing something for society... maybe a limited society however. As for two radar systems... one for ships and one for weather? Or perhaps one is for satellite communications.

Nice detail work on the oars. I'm not sure they would have been painted but Keith makes a good point for being dark colored. If I remember right, there's a couple of models at Fort Donelson and I don't remember seeing oars in the boats. But, memory could be faulty on this.

I opt for the vacuum cleaner.... you get a nice sound effect when the block is found. Digging it out the bag is another story.

Welcome to MSW, Pierre. I'm looking forward to seeing your models.

Good luck on the repair. Such a tiny space seems to me impossible to work in.

I love the attention to the details on your ships. And then to see the photos of you posing says much about your dedication to accuracy.

31 ton Revenue cutter sails and rigging
mtaylor replied to Bill Hudson's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
For an SIB, I think the rigging shown would be perfect. With something that small, less is more. -

Very well done on the paint. Before I read the text, I thought you were changing this to a night fighter. -
Thanks. I do need to remember my dad's words: "There's never been a perfect human being". The fix for planking is underway.

The gold on the photo etch.... are you primering first? I've not done much photo etch and this kit will my first major effort but in the past, I've had to clean the brass in acetone, rinse, dry, put in some vinegar for about 15 minutes to give it some "tooth" and then rinse and dry. Once the cleaning and etching the tooth, I've painted. What little testing I've done on this kit's brass, tells me just primer. Seems the recommended "gold" doesn't like bare metal.

Black scroll bars
mtaylor replied to Dr PR's topic in How to use the MSW forum - **NO MODELING CONTENT**
That's good. If you had picked one off the the ISP site, it would not work as the theme has to be part of the website. As a former IT type, I've found that not all browsers are equal do I personally run 3 for different things. -
Black scroll bars
mtaylor replied to Dr PR's topic in How to use the MSW forum - **NO MODELING CONTENT**
If you click on "theme" (the one with the down carot), you'll see three themes available from MSW. I think you went to the IPS site not the ones available from MSW.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
