  1. Looking great, Piet. Hard to believe it's all wood and paper under that paint and not actual metal.
  2. Marc, I suppose one could make the frames out of one plank, though plywood would be stronger and would work if the inside and outside are fully planked. I'm considering doing that way on my next build as my builds have and probably will be fully planked.
  3. You might have a long way to go, Mike, but what you have accomplished is fantastic.
  4. The smallest one that Lowe's has is too big for what we do. Ok..maybe not if you're doing 1:36 or 1:24. It was in the same section as their Dremel tools.
  5. Sam, I've seen something like at Lowe's now that I've seen the picture.... <grabs credit card><runs out door> Back in a bit!!!!!!
  6. Jan, Wonderful work.. I love watching your builds.
  7. Sherry, I'm saddened to hear this. A good picture and fond memories are the best way to remember anyone who's not with us anymore. I hope your good memories will ease your pain.
  8. Good to hear that things are settling back down. Who needs turmoil when we have ships to build? Or does turmoil and shipbuilding go hand-in-hand? I think Adam had the recipe almost right... something about water though. It just doesn't seem right.
  9. Steve, Have a great trip! It sound like a great adventure!
  10. Hope you have a speedy recovery, Nenad. Not a good thing to try to build when you're not at 100% as it becomes too easy to make big mistakes.
  11. We actually cut out the futtocks and glue them together to make the frames. There are two reasons: 1) It does save on wood. 2) It makes the frames stronger.
  12. Thanks for the tutorials, Gil. Good to see that you're back in the shipyard.
  13. I hope you don't mind if I too, pull up a chair. Looks to be an interesting model.
  14. Love the photography. They, alone, are works of art. You're taking build logs to a whole new level, Gaetan.
  15. Hmm... I think you're right, Michael. The racing stripe would work on a yacht but all of the same color and in a lighter wood seems more appropriate for a working ship.
  16. Sadly, no one makes one of those.
  17. I'm sitting here thinking.. "why not? a great idea". You've workshop, stove, microwave, refrigerator at your fingertips. Then I stopped and thought what would the Admiral say....
  18. Rick... Yes, delete them as they are still "active" even in the background. Goto: Start-->Control Panel-->Programs and Features. Once there, look for the toolbars. Highlight and click on "Uninstall". You should reboot after removing all of them. Here's the images you sent me. It appears that the site automatically resized them to the default 1600 X 1200.
  19. grsjax, I'd do a test build of something small first. According to the information on the web, it's somewhere between balsa and cedar. Not a hardwood but was used in surfboards, some canoes, and drums. Might work, might not. And also try assorted finishes also.
  20. Nice work, so far. You're English is pretty good and we should have no problem understanding you. Welcome to MSW!!!
  21. Rick, Adriaan has a good point about toolbars. I sent you a PM with my email addy to send me some pics and I'll test also. I'm on Win7, IE10
  22. OMG... it's gimbaled... This is beyond incredible.
