Great looking Supply Ron. Sit back, admire and be proud. Then tomorrow get that thing into a display case and start your next build.

Andy, I'm sorry to hear of your grandfather's passing. I hope you can make the memorial. The right words will come when the time is right. Might be the middle of the night or high noon, but they will come. In many ways, this place is a sometimes rather disjointed family and other times, it can feel closer than the real thing. Keith hit it dead center.

Sweet work on the hurricane house and tiller John. I won't mention the rudder except to say it looks good too.

Bits and pieces, you say? Or just more in-depth detailing? Super nice looking, Hamilton.

Matti, From here on out, she'll take on life and look different to you every day. The prow really looks great.

L'Orient really sounds promising. I'd love to do that one with the Billy Ruffian sitting next to it when they were at the Battle of the Nile. So many ships, so little time..<sigh> Enjoy the Zin.

Well... isn't that all you CAN do? Laugh it off, fix it, and carry on? Or at least after the expletives have blackened the air in the workshop, of course. I'm just a sanding fool right now making powdered wood in one area, and smooth wood in the other. I'm happy with the way it's going.

Piet, The loading tubes and doors look spectacular. I'm thinking that John might have a good idea. You wouldn't have to all the doors, maybe just one? The tube wouldn't have to be full depth, just enough to "see" the mine in it.

Hi Denis, Moving seems to be a mix of good things and things that make you scream. I hope all goes well and you can get back into the shipyard. This is going to be an interesting mystery project. Since you're working and moving, for now, we'll do coffee and hold the adult beverages until you're all moved: Sorry Wayne, got to think of our host first.

Thanks for retirement wishes and comments. Been a week and wonderful. Getting things done that I've wanted to do and even worked on Licorne. I had some gremlins visit. Grabbed the wrong drill bit to put some holes into the frames for planking clamps. It was too small and when putting in the clamps, I heard a horrible cracking sound and the planking bulged outwards. Choice words, isopropyl, and several hours later, the planking was removed from the damage area, the frame fixed, and the planking back on. I've finished the starboard planking between the main and chain wales. Currently sanding and final cutting and sizing the gunports. Hope to have pictures soon.

A nice bit of progress, Lextin. Earlier, you were questioning the wales. What did you decide?

When I first saw your last post, I saw the pictures first and thought "now that's interesting, he's confident enough to build the display case first!". Actually it's a great idea to have temporary storage to keep the dust off.

Sweet work on the tube doors. I'll just admire them and let someone else ask if they actually lock. ;)

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
