    The last two photos definitely puts this ship into perspective as to size. At any scale, it's one impressive and beautiful build.

    Thanks for input,Vaddoc. I've used other epoxies in the past and there are limitations and considerations to be sure.

    Do them down if you want with the explanation that it's either in maintenance or on the "hot pad". You do seem to looking for a reason to have them down. LOL.

    Those "triangles" on the stab tips could be "trim tabs" (preset adjustment before flight) or possibly a balance weight to compensate on the elevators.

    Looking good and the inspector doesn't seem displeased since it didn't get tossed to the floor. As for the chain... I'd say go with the larger.

    If the plans are still under copyright, the answer should be "no". But he can tell you where he got the plans.

    Well, I waited for the wood to settle in by running the A/C and getting the humidity out of the air. Put the glue down and the deck and clamped used some weights. Then I waited over night. All is well. The glue dries almost flat in sheen and holds securely. I'm putting this on list of "go-to's" where normal wood glue may create issues. I'll upload a photo in my log probably tomorrow as there somethings I need to fiddle with first.

    Not liking that diagnosis, EG, but the feedback from the doc is good news. I hope all goes well and yes, modeling can help by taking your mind off the problems and give some mental relief. The silver beast is looking good at this point and you seem to have it under control.

    I've seen that in every ratline I've done. I gave up on using beeswas. Instead, I do my ratlines like you've done. Then when all done, go over them with 50/50 mix of white glue and water to shape and add the uniform sag and "lock" the knots. Now there is a catch.... I've only used cotton fibers not the man-made fiber so I doubt if this work if you're using man-made fiber rope. Edit... due to a cross posting.... Dave is also right about shortening up the ratlines. Don't pull too much to the point where it pulls the shroud out of line.

    Given the situation, you can do them yourself so try that first. If it fails or is just too frustrating, many suppliers have grating kits of the wood ready to be assembled, but not the coamings.

    Great photos of the family and Hawaii, Marc. It might be worthwhile to check the Vasa museum. I vaguely remember something about they developed a color sheet of the various colors for the Vasa carvings after they found out it wasn't all one color but had variety of colors on the figures and trim pieces..

    Indeed, we all do, Amalio as her last post was last year. I understand she had some health problems and her husband's death was hard on her. Hopefully, she's doing well.

    Same here. Our local hobby shop "rebrands" it with a label that has their logo which, I understand, is/was pretty common.

    Trying to solve a problem with PVA causing very thin wood to curl. I visited my local hobby shop and found this.. 20 minute working time epoxy. I didn't know they made such a thing but I think it'll fill the bill as testing is very positive/.

    Well, it's been in low humid room and all is well. As a side note,I was worried about glue as last time around the PVA caused it curl. So, I found this at the local hobby shop... epoxy with a 20 minute working time. It should allow me plenty of time to install it exactly and then clamp and take 12-24 hours off from building.

    My scroll saw is from the big box hardware place locally (Lowes). My little table saw is a MicroMark. I've had both for about 10 years or longer and both are still going strong. I would love to have a Byrnes but at my age I just can't justify it. I'm also of the "wear it out, use it up" belief. BTW, do look around as there are deals for used. Not just Fleaby but local yard sales and estate sales and auctions many times have power tools on sale for little money compated to new. Also, keep an eye on our Traders, Dealers section as members offer stuff regularly.
