Hi Pete. Extreme sailing with an extreme boat. When I look at your photos of the hull, i can't help but think 'who thought of designing a boat with a massive flat and broad rear, coupled with a knife thin bow!' Seems like it'd never work, but, hey, obviously it does because, as you've said, these are extreme racers. Fast and nice!

I'm with Popeye...staining would cover what is already naturally beautiful wood. But, that's only my opinion. It's your model and it's hard to go wrong when you follow your instincts. All the best.

Pete. That's one hell of a beautiful hull you've got there. I especially like the shot of the hull on its side because it emphasises A3's beautiful knife-like bow; perfect for slicing through the waves. All the best.

Hi Dave. I too share your initial thoughts about painting the hull, particularly as you've never done it on your earlier models. But, once it's done, you'll probably look at it and say 'what was all the fuss about"! It's a great job you're doing there and the fact that you're doing two Mayflower's is even more impressive. Hi all. Ingomar's deck furniture continues to grow. Tonight, I've gotten part way through completing the square skylight over the owner's suite and also the round multi-spoked main skylight over the grand saloon. Whilst there's still more work to go in terms of cleaning up and sanding, etc, here're the results so far. All the best!

Thanks, Pete! We all have our strengths and differing specialties; which makes this Forum so good. Nonetheless, for me, it's a great way to de-stress and forget about work, at times. There's something about the hobby, which is challenging and yet rewarding. So,I can certainly understand your motivation to work 50 hours getting your latest build, NZL-20, into the water. Enjoy your week.

Hi Dave and David B. Many thanks and much appreciated. I can certainly see both sides of the coin. In one sense, after having built a 1/192 scale Victory and going grey from all the rigging, I agree that in comparison, a schooner is far simpler. On the other hand, David B's right.... A schooner leaves less room to hide in the sense that everything has to be just that bit more spot on. No pressure!!! Thanks for stopping by and looking in. The sad part is that Ingomar's accommodation is almost 95% complete; which is a shame because I've loved building the internal detail work so much, that it's sad to move on. But move on, I must! Hi everyone! Thanks to everyone for their Likes and compliments! Here are the latest progress photos on Ingomar's internal accommodation. The following photos show the large sideboard with 4 cupboards and multiple shelves in the main saloon. Next, you'll see the galley stove with three round holes to represent the hot plates. I've still to add the chimney stack to the galley stove. After that, I've included photos of the main staircase, complete with handrails and posts. It looks a bit rough at the moment, but once sanded (very lightly) and cleaned up, then it'll look much better. Anyhow, all the best everyone and enjoy the rest of your weeks.

Pete. I gotta hand it to ya. You're the absolute master of paint and paint finishes! Looks beauthiful in that blue. Can't wait till you sart on the deck detail now. Pls refresh my memory. Was she the one that challenged and won the 1987 cup? If so, my recollection was that she had to be built heavier and more powerfully in order to stand up to the much rougher Indian ocean conditions. That probably accounts for her more angular lines, in comparison to KA 6's more graceful ones. Have you got your Business Plan ready for the 12 metre hull business that we discussed earlier. You'd be sure to make some tidy profits .... All the best!
