Hi Lawrence Many thanks for the birthday wishes! Hopefully it won't be long before my new boat can start....can't wait. Cheers Patrick
-
Thanks Denis! I reckon you’re right! Less thinking and more doing, should do the trick😉 Cheers. Patrick

Thanks Denis! I reckon you’re right about the paint work. She’s scrubbing up rather well, I must say😀. As for my next boat....have you ever made a decision, only to secretly wonder why you made that decision in the first place? Seriously Denis, this new ship scares the hell out of me. But oh, what a challenge ... Have a great Easter weekend. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Piet What a beautiful job you’re doing. Of course, the emotions must be running high at times, but, like the others have said, it’s good that you’re at peace with your father’s fate. Not so, with your time in the concentration camps; but some memories are hard to shake. Thanks for sharing and I value your willingness to bring us into your world. All the best and take care. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Doris I’m very late to the party, but, Oh...My...Lord...I’m speechless!!!! You, Doris, are not only a modeller, but you’re an artist and a magician, all rolled into one. Simply amazing. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Piet. Yep, you’re absolutely right. Radical she is, that’s for sure. I’ll put some more info when I create the Build Log, but as far as I can see, she is a trimaran (hence the two sponsons on each side of the rear of the hull). Hi Michael.. it’s great to hear from you. I hope all’s well with you and your new house. Thanks, also, for the belated Birthday wishes!

Thanks Ben! I'd be eternally grateful. Shame about P&J, though. I really liked the radical nature of their designs.

Hi Sanit Marvellous! I really like what you're doing. You seem to be a seriously talented modeller!!! Cheers Patrick -
HI Ben Thanks for the tip about your work colleague! I swear, any bit of info that he could / would be willing to impart, would be most welcomed. At this stage, my biggest problem is the hull plans; which, I know, would be impossible to get. I guess, I'm just going to have to 'wing it' and do the best approximation of what I think the hull may look like. I may also need to tap into your excellent Naval Architecture brain for guidance and support!!!!!! PS -is it true that Palmer and Johnson has gone out of business??? Cheers Patrick

Thanks Frank. To be honest, it's not just the 'forward railing' that scares me...it's EVERYTHING about this ship that scares me. I mean, just looking at it is enough to do my head in. But, I'm hooked. What a challenge and what a load of fun this one's going to be!

Hi Frank. Thanks, as always. I had a special little chuckle about your 'garden' comment. I needed a good laugh after a day like today! The answer is 1:1 Thanks Piet! Great to hear from you. Shadow's almost done, and soon, I'll be able to start my new project. Hint: She's really out of left field: Take a peek:https://yachtharbour.com/yacht/khalilah-2968. How the hell am I gonna tackle this one! I've got a headache already!!!!!!! Cheers Patrick

Hi Everyone! A quick update for you. Shadow now has a temporary stand to rest upon, whilst I figure out how best to display her. I hope the final decision will look good...here’ hoping. Also, I’ve painted her two tenders (one of which is shown in the photos). Pls excuse my dirty fingernails as I’d just done some gardening before the photo was taken. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Mark ...Not deliberately taking the focus away from the guns, but, man oh man, seeing the photos of the hull has suddenly reminded me of just how good a planking job you’ve done. Very nice, Mark, very nice indeed. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Mick Very nice and precise...and dare I say, impressive workmanship. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Frank ...now, that’s some seriously impressive work, there. I swear, if I had only 10% of the skills and talent that you have, I’d be a very happy chappy😊😊😊. All the best! Cheers. Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
