Hi Nils Thanks! To be honest, I hadn't really thought of the soundtrack for the diesels, but, you've given me something to think about, now! All the best. Cheers Patrick

Hi Piet No worries! I can assure you that there'll be more than a few cushions scattered around the ship, including the Sun Deck area. There will also be some large umbrellas on the aft of the Sun Deck; just to give a hint of what it'd be like to sit back and relax on a nice tropical cruise while the crew toil away to make the guests happy. Cheers and all the best! Patrick

Hi Greg Many thanks! I can't promise about the bubbles, but I can always try.... With respect to the stern door, yep, you're right because it's designed to be lowered to water level, thereby enabling the jet skis and tender to be launched and recovered. Hope this helps. Cheers Patrick

Hi Pete. Cheers and many thanks! Hi BDGiantman Thanks for your comments. Greatly appreciated! Hi Mark Thanks and I really appreciate your comments! Hi Elijah. Thanks for your comments and yep, I've designed each deck to be completely removable so that the interior can be viewed. I'd hate to have put all the work into the interior, without it being able to be enjoyed. Thanks once again. Cheers Patrick

HI everyone Many thanks for your comments and Likes. Greatly appreciated. Here's my latest update: I've managed to paint the starboard engine and other associated details in the engine room. The jet skis and the ship's RIB tender have also received a second coat of paint with a new and better quality paint brush. The difference is much better than before, I must say. Also, at the stern of the ship, I've started on the port and starboard stairs which lead from the main deck down to the diving platform. Still lots of cleaning up to do, of course. Lastly, on the Sun Deck, I've put together the spa (which is the funny round thing) and a short series of steps for guests to use in order to climb from the deck into it. Lots and lots of details, as well as filling, puttying and sanding to go, but it's fun and satisfying work, none the less. All the best! Cheers Patrick

Hi Nenad Yes! You most certainly can do a great job on the steering wheel, even though you may doubt your ability to do so. From what you've showed us, there's nothing that you haven't been able to do so far. I'm looking forward to your next update. Cheers Patrick- 4,152 replies

Hi Walter Nice to hear back from you and that you're taking more care of your health. I know it sounds like a cliche, but health will always trump over our hobbies, so, take your time and make sure you're fit and well before getting back to your shipyard. All the best! Patrick

Hi Vaddoc Nice work, but, not having a glass case could be a problem once those cobwebs start to grow. More importantly, if this is only your second model, then you've already set the bar very high. Very impressive to say the least! All the best Patrick

Hi Dave I'm just sitting here shaking my head in disbelief! I can't even imagine being able to replicate what you've done. You, Sir, are doing one hell of a fabulous job on those carvings. Cheers and all the best for the weekend. Patrick

Hi Vaddoc She looks so real, that it's hard to tell that it's a model. The rope work, coupled with the fixtures and fittings, just add so much character to the ship. You've got to be really chuffed! Will you be building a glass case as well? Cheers Patrick

Thanks Frank. Ironically, I do have an Optivisor, but for some reason, I haven't used it lately. Come to think of it, it may come in handy the next time I open my wallet, afterall the cash is pretty hard to see...LOL! Cheers Patrick

Hi Frank - I didn't use a magnifying lens for these jet skis, but I really wish I had! Hi Pete - Better bring your packed lunch, because the galley hasn't been built yet! Hi Steamschooner - Thanks!! Thanks Nigel - greatly appreciated! Hi Greg - yep, sometimes I am a bit fussy, but I'll sand the paint back and try again...should be looking better once done. Hi Piet - thanks for the tip on the brush. Guess what I'll be buying tomorrow??? Hi Michael - thanks. I'm not exactly sure that they'll do that..It'd be fun trying to find out, though! Thanks Igor!!! Thanks Mark!!!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
