Hi Greg, Mark, George and Pete Thanks for your comments, all of which are greatly appreciated! I've certainly enjoyed building the tender more than I did with the Caterpillar engine. Much more fun, I say. All the best! Cheers Patrick

Hi Pete Thanks! A larger scale Australia II (KA6) would be fantastic to see. Cheers Patrick

Hi Folks! Thanks for all of your comments and Likes. Greatly appreciated! Well, I decided to have a break from the engines for a short while, in order to tackle the ship's tender. The tender is a 6.5metre RIB, capable of 40 knots. The photos show the tender as it currently stands now. I will need to add more details and paint to this little ship. There are also two jet skis which are yet to built, so no doubt, I'll be busy! I hope you enjoy the photos. All the best! Patrick

Hi Jim I'm always looking forward to your updates on this build because it's such a fascinating subject matter. I'm hoping, if possible, that when it's finished, you'd be able to post a video of the system working, so that we can further admire your efforts. Cheers Patrick -
Very nice and you can definitely see the lovely character and charm of these types of tugs showing through. Well done! Cheers Patrick

Hi Piet Very nice, Pete! It's great that you're able to get back into this ship, especially as you've still got your Herreshoff's on the go. I'm looking forward to your next update. Cheers Patrick

Hi Zoltan I hope this helps. I don't know if it's still current, though. Worth a try. Cheers Patrick

Hi Mick Totally understand where you're coming from. Something's just can't be rushed. BTW, I also have Phil Reed's book, which I used extensively to build my Pandora and Lennox models. I only wish I was even 10% as talented as him! All the best! Cheers Patrick

Hi Mick Looks like you've been busy! Those frames look good. I reckon you must be champing at the bit to get them installed onto the keel. All the best! Cheers Patrick

Thanks Denis! I'm looking forward to getting them painted as well, because, as you've said, they'll really 'pop' then.

...and just to add to Bob's words. In the real world, if there's a compelling need for a particular design for a full sized boat, then someone will build it. Correspondingly, someone will buy it and, someone will use it. The point being, that there are some butt-ugly ships out there. But nobody said that they shouldn't be built. Likewise, I see no reason why something like your ship could not exist, especially if someone (such as yourself), was imaginative enough to dream of it. All the best Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
