  1. Thanks mate - its such a boringggggggg job one line at a time🧐 OC.
  2. The bench was calling me so I decided to make the mainmast tops, painted and weathered including fitting a couple of blocks for the foremast yard movement ropes. OC.
  3. Not too bad mate, the wood inserts certainly help keeping them rigid, I am still being careful though and keep checking all the masts are ligned up. OC.
  4. Good day all, another good day on the pearl, I have managed to get the mainmast shrouds fitted to the deadeyes, went quite well and is niclely tentioned - need to do the ratlines. A few pics including a close up of the lashing around the mast. OC.
  5. Please dont do it blidfolded - I once did that with darts - didn't go down to well, when I had to explain that down at the hospital. LOL. OC.
  6. Hope your feeling better, thats some fine progress keep up the good work. OC.
  7. I think I may have found a wartime photo of my late farther, he used to tell me he also worked on Short Stirlings at a shadow base of RAF Marham called Downham Market I assume posting where he was needed as there where only about 3 miles away from each other, he told me he was in number 1 group and at the time(1943) the active squadron was 218sqn flying Shorts and Lancs. OC,
  8. Talking of spits, this is one of mine from the last airshow I did RIAT 2017 Fairford UK. OC.
  9. Welcome aboard you are ofcourse most welcome, Im not starting yet as I have the pearl to finnish unless I wish to be "sent to Coventry" by the admiral. OC.
  10. Thanks lou, yep I will have a bit of fiddling to do to the get the correct "sit" of the model, as I understand the kit undercarriage units are slightly too short, yet the kit wheels are two large (tall and thin) perhaps the extras in a bag are better? we used to have a single flying varient over here RR-299 it was gorgeous till it crashed, I saw it regularly at different shows over the years, it was like listening to two spitfires flying together. OC.
  11. Right then folks it arrived yesterday - the box slightly battered but all parts seem fine - all sealed in bags, also with the kit I was supprised to find some extras - a mask set for the windows and a few areas that need masking, and also an Edward PE set, oh and an extra set of wheels, (I know the wheels in the kit are over scale but dont know if these are extras or replacements). Here are pics showing the extra items - OC.
  12. Excellent work, doesn't that look realistic some grand weathering going on there. OC.
  13. I have been working on some diagrams of the rigging - whats done and what still to be done - OC.
  14. Thank you Martyn, I was concerned about the different deadeye hights - but it is what it is, so I have made it intentional from the captain. OC.
  15. Another great aircraft kit - will be following this one also. OC.
  16. Quite a positive saturday at the bench - I continued with the mainmast shrouds, this time with a little more control I managed to get the next two spaced a little better. OC.
  17. Evening all, so with the foremast shrouds done - today I started on the mainmast, I constructed the first two lengths of rope then lashed them around the mast above the crosstrees, I tied the lashed part quite tightly making a neater job than I did on the foremast, I then ran the rope down and attached the shroud deaedeye - I did somehow manage to get the first one alot lower (just one deadeye distance between them) so I thought I better do the same on the other side, when I came to do the second rope I intended to make the gap between the two deadeyes wider, but for some reason and sloppyness on my side - I did the same again, oh well the first two rows will have to remain as they are (captain jack ordered them that way after a battle with the defiant - as a way to give more strength to the main mast) I will attempt to make the remaining four the correct gap. OC.
  18. Thank you denis, it can get a bit disoriented working under a low slung light and looking through the mag - glass - a bit tunnel visioned. OC.
