Kevin replied to Kevin's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
lol i still dont know whats is best for me, the margins first or the planking, but as i bought 6mm wood strip, i went with the planking first and will make the margins fit -

Agreed, but if the concept is correct then i will proceed with what i have started, to make the margins wider i think will interfere with everything that has to go on this area however when i do the Amerigo Vespucci i will do this system again -

Good evening everyone, As you can see by the photo this is the deck plan for my 1/32 trawler, there are a lot of pointy bits, which i guess woulld not happen, i am laying planks over this and woundered if any one had any idea how it should look, even though a lot of it will never be seen is the decking plan wrong?

Good evening everyone i put quite a bit of thought into the bridge roof last night and eventually fell asleep with no solution, then whilst walking the dog came up with this, now i have a way ahead (small steps) other than that today has been spent on the hull with the bilge keels, will cover that this week so now i have a removable roof panel which will allow access after the interior is fitted out

i see it decided to put the photo in reverse, but i am happy with the results so far, like the victory i have no intentions of her being a show room condition build, LOL i cannot work like that, she will also need to be well weathered,

Good morning everyone well until i have a weeks holiday, when i will have the opportunity to build the dock diorama to finish the Victory, i was left with the decision of what to do next, and for the same reasons i will delay the start of the Amerigo Vepucci (the mess) so yesterday i made a start on the trawler Grimsby UK has a museum dedicated to the builders of all hulls made by the company, and they reckon they will have some plans available for me this summer, so that i can sort out the internal details, but that leaves me plenty to do Wheel house LOL i cut out the the bridge window panel (took hours and then snapped it in 1/2 as i tried to fit it so made another in plastic card the wheel house assembly is split into several sections the chart room and radio room, the partitions that were in place have been removed for now as i want to adapt them for some hidden wires that will bring some lighting in the top portion of the bridge front is panelled but apparently the same colour as below it, im not sure thats how i want to do it though so

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
