Здравствуйте!

Мне нравится обсуждение сборки парусника Сан Филиппе. Я из России. Я тоже увлекаюсь моделизмом и собираю такую модель. Мне будет интересно с Вами  принять участие  в обсуждении постройке этой модели.

I had to translate the above comment.

Hello!
I like the discussion of assembly sailboat San Felipe. I am from Russia. I'm also fond of model making and collecting such a model. I would be interested to you to take part in the discussion of the construction of this model.

Thank you Григорий (English only please) :)

Dear Sirs, let me share with you its a sailboat San Philip. The dialogues have to be through a translator because I studied German in school. Can be separately where the exhibit their photo. I will be glad to help. Very interesting interaction with people on the other end of the Earth. Sorry for the errors is a translation.f you want to write about yourself, where you live, the family is willing to talk.

Sherry, You know I do not see these as distractions. You are simply juggling the order of tasks that need doing according to your current disposition and this changes on a regular basis. Mostly the order of things can be juggled a little here and a little there.

I really like Michael's "definition" for what I am doing. :P

It's actually quite true.

So....I did some more "juggling the order" and decided to carve the figurehead. It's not that I don't like planking, it's just a tad monotonous compared to other tasks.

The figurehead is in 2 pieces and was hand carved from a small block of basswood. The scalpel in the photo is for size comparison.

The figurehead appears larger than it really is when dry fitted on the stem because of the angle of the photograph. (That being said - it is probably a little off scale, but I'm happy with and will leave it as is.)

Sherry the figure head shows that this is definitely where your skills lie. If you can carve basswood like that you can carve anything.

beautiful craftsmanship. Ok the rest of the ship is great too!

I have to say that I am both humbled  and encouraged by all your generous comments! Thank-you!
It makes me want to "carve up a storm". :D

Sjors:

But please no figures on my belly.

Are you sure? It could be something new...instead of tattoos, you could have carved figures...maybe gnomes! :P  :D  :D

John: Thank-you! I tried using an Xacto knife, but the scalpel is finer and much sharper which I think is the key to carving basswood.

Bob: Thank-you!

Wayne: Thank-you as well!

that is amazing

I am amazed that everyone else is so amazed!  :)
