Black Sea Coaster Çektirme by mhmtyrl - Finished

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody

I started my model "Çektirme", a classical coaster. These coasters have been in service for many years in black sea reagon for mainly cargo transportation between docks. due to mass usage of timber, production was abondened around 1990's.

this type has both sails and an engine, typical of the ones in service around 1950's.

I am finished with planking, some weathering is applied via coal powder. details are applied via pastel powder and brush. eventually all the body and the deck will be painted, so  I used not much detailed weathering.

Looking great! Too echo another post, it is nice to see a type of ship that is not commonly built on here. Always good to have variety as that is how we learn and grow.

hello everybody

I have made some progress with painting the hull, I used acrylic. I applied double sided tape or masking fluid while weathering. double sided tape application removes some random parts of the paint, when you repaint it with a diluted paint or leave it as it is, then you have a weathered appearence.

in the last picture you see my cat "Köfte"  (meatball) examining the art piece and making suggestions

Very good job on the weathering. Reminds me of the fishing boats down at my Uncle's cabin in Louisiana. They have that same rugged, neglect look that you have recreated. I may have to try your technique when I weather some of my structures on my model railroad.

hello everybody

I have made progress with cabins and painting, also some moss and sea shell formations are added to bottom of the hull (with salt and masking fluid)

some random parts of the paint was removed with double sided tape and brush strokes with a metal brush (to use for scraping rust from metal)

Hi Mehmet,

That is some great weathering you're doing on this model.  I have to look twice lately to make sure you're not showing the real ship.
