The actual original film was made in 1935, and starred Charles Laughton and Clarke Gable. The second film Mutiny on the Bounty was made in 1962, and starred Trevor Howard and Marlon Brando. The last film Mutiny on the Bounty was made in 1984. Heck of a story though. Steve 12345 Posted April 4, 2017 Author Share #127 Posted April 4, 2017 Hello all some further progress on deck I have added the elm tree pumps these where not included in the kit I have used caldercraft pumps and scratch build some belaying pin rails and stanchions the belaying pins themselves where also replaced earlier in the build to 8mm walnut from the kit provided 8mm brass. I have to say it is amazing and you should be justifiably proud of your efforts. The colour scheme is fantastic and makes my Constructo kit seem dowdy by comparison. I presume that you have taken the colours solely from Mackays book and not from Billings instructions? Can I ask you an unrelated question blocks and their rigging. While my planking is ongoing I'm looking to make up some blocks. My Constructo kit rigs them with copper wire! I'm a newbie as you know, but this seems like a cop out to me. Having sail that they are 3mm and the thought of rigging them with line frightens the life out of me - what do you think? Keep up the good work and providing me with a great reference project. Steve 12345 Posted April 9, 2017 Author Share #137 Posted April 9, 2017 Heres that transom piece out of the clamps and as you can see it has held its shape well Hi Nigel thank you for the kind compliment and continuing to follow from my own limited experience many different manufactures will have there own process im not familiar with using brass wire for the blocks but would imagine it more difficult the beauty with model ship building is its flexability in those instructions not being very good we can draw from other instructions or from on here ,regardless to kit brand we are all aiming for the same result .at risk of teaching granny how to suck eggs here is how I do my blocks little knot like I would tie a fishing hook dab of ca or white glue in some instances I will make a tiny hook from an eye bolt and finaly for the dead eyes I do use brass wire heres a snippet from mantua instructions of a little jig and those fitted to my victory Waitoa, Eddie, EJ_L and 1 other 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Steve 12345 Posted April 9, 2017 Author Share #140 Posted April 9, 2017 Building the gallery window frames first off I hade to capsize the ship ,this is not a problem as all the parts are glued and pinned in position ,you cant notice from the pictures but I have the stand pinned to the bottom of the ship this was because in my first build when it got to rigging etc if I wanted to move the ship I needed a second stand as the ship becomes difficult to lift with one hand and move stand to new location with the other hand this way I can lift the ship with both hands and the stand follows along I took a rubing of the window apertures and taped this to a board with some clear double sided tape over my picture then I was free to build the window frame structure after sanding I test fitted then painted prior to fitting you can also see how I plan to add the yellow to the red arched shape piece and lastly I would like to thank you all for the likes and comments I love to see that little notification button lit red but earlier today this just blew my away thank you all so much steve popeye the sailor, Eddie, EJ_L and 1 other 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

While I typically am more of a fan of using natural wood colors, my hat is off to you with how you have painted this one. As for the lettering, you could try printing the name on a clear decal sheet. Experiment to get the right font and size with regular paper and then you can print it onto the clear decal paper. Testors makes some specifically for this purpose that I have used on my model railroad to create my own signs and things. Here is a link to them on Amazon. The one problem I had was that the label itself showed as well as the printing. The label was glossy which I couldn't hide. I had thought that it might have worked out better if I put down a layer of Polyurethane then "buried" the label in the wet Poly then covered it was another coat of Polyurethane. Unfortunately I didn't do any experiments. However if you're thinking of going that route I would be glad to try a couple of different scenarios so you can see the results. However, I would have to think that clear decal sheets are a lot thinner than the clear sheets I used and may not be a problem at all. All parts had to be cutted out using a jig saw or just a No.11 blade I ordered the fittings to the kit with the cost kit and fittings $75.00 back then now I find Billings includes theyr fitting with the kit instead of ordering them separate Love the color schedule I include a couple of shots of my kit that is now completed.
