Thanks Pat. I did this for a friend who worked for a while, taking Timber to the beach on the Island of Mull, wher it was loaded like this.

One of my favourites. If it wasn't for these guys 'The Few'would have been even fewer and flying Gliders!

An interesting Ship.

From 1942 to 1946, the United States Department of State chartered Gripsholm as an exchange and repatriation ship, carrying Japanese[5] and German nationals to exchange points where she then picked up US and Canadian citizens (and British married to Americans or Canadians) to bring home to the USA and Canada. In this service she sailed under the auspices of the International Red Cross, with a Swedish captain and crew. The ship made 12 round trips, carrying a total of 27,712 repatriates. Exchanges took place at neutral ports; at Lourenço Marques in Mozambique or Mormugoa in Portuguese India with the Japanese, and Stockholm or Lisbon with the Germans.

I'll say it again - you certainly can capture and portray the 'atmosphere' in your paintings.  No need to go to a gallery as we have one of the better 'virtual' ones available to us here on MSW :)

cheers

I leave them in the pad..

Your extremely prolific the way you can whip these out. That being said I have not seen one I would not be proud to hang in the house.

great stuff, and so many. i used to paint pictures years ago but somehow i never really got the bug, i`ve painted about 25 in the last 45 years and none in the last 15 most i gave away.  and i dont know why i just got bored, bit similar to my model building now, seem to have the skills but not the drive, of all my paintings only two were of ships, one i gave to an old friend that used to be in the merchant navy and the other i gave to my younger brother and his wife, i have a photo of this one, it was a picture i saw on a book cover in a second hand book store, so i bought the book for a few pence and painted it, the picture was done on a 30" x 20" board in oils, so here it is
