Beautiful and inspiring work almost comes to an end JJ….

I wonder if you could explain and visualize two things:

1. The connection of your 9-12 Volt connector to your model stand and how you wired the male/ female plug inside the winnie (did you drill the wiring all the way vertical through the keel AND the multiply?)

2. A small tutorial on how to produce those lovely lanterns hanging all over?

The rest of the wiring is clear in your pictures I think.

Hi Frank, my sincere apologies for not responding to this, I somehow let it slip through the cracks.

 

To answer your questions, I bought a 9volt battery plug and connector from Evan’s LED (on msw vendor list), I did indeed carefully drill from the bottom of the keel up and out the side of the bulkhead former.

These parts are very small so I drilled two small holes and then used a No.11 blade to carve out a square hole in which the female end of the electrical plug would permanently fit. As you can see in my build log, there is a series of feeder wires that supply all the lanterns throughout the model that I ran up through the spirketing and into the deck beams where then feed the lanterns.

The lanterns are 3D printed and I’m happy to share that file with you, I used Evan’s chip leds, smallest available ( I believe) to simulate a warm candle light.

 

i hope this helps, now is the time to begin  installing all this wiring, I think just before chapter 4. It was a very difficult task to hide all these micro wires successfully so take your time.

Hi Frank, was planning to get some work done while back at work but my workspace is completely consumed in the engine room. Perhaps when I get home I’ll get something done in between installing frames in Portland.

Someone’s got their own dedicated workbench again. Will be back at Winnie again…slowly, in between working on and designing Portland. Looking forward to finishing this awesome project!

Some forward progress on chapter 12

tonight, I began fitting the headrails and head timbers. Precision work but I think it’s starting to fit pretty well. Had to add some material to one side of the aft head timber but it will get painted so it should work out.
