Sparky2041 Posted October 3, 2022 #1 Posted October 3, 2022 Hi All, Just a short note to tell you about myself. Got interested in sailing early in my life racing dinghies in Zimbabwe. At the age of 7 my father, being the Irishman that he is, decided to build a 44ft sea going yacht in a land-locked country in the middle of a war. The yacht ended up in South Africa and was our home for most of my school years. We did a lot of short trips to various destinations until my parents went on pension. They raised anchor and promptly sailed around the the world for the following 9 years. Well as you can imagine I fell in love with yachts and ships but the only ones I can afford to build are the models. I have tried a few here and there but am now taking the venture seriously. I have started build on the Scottish Maid Aberdeen, scale 1:50, and enjoying it tremendously. Enough about me, thanks for accepting my application and hope to have meaningful chats on the forums. Shaun Martin Wow! Your father must be a genius! Building such a yacht at the age of seven? Barely in the early grammar school years and already getting into such a task??? Unbelievable!!!
