Noblewoman Full Resin Figure Model Kit by CDW - Generic Resin Kit from Asia - 1:24 Scale

I bought this full resin figure kit to use as a prop when displaying certain model cars I own in 1:24 scale. She resembles Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, but I don't recall ever seeing Elvira with a large dog-like pet. Rather, her pose was generally lying on a couch if I recall correctly. I'll be challenged to achieve a painted finish that looks anywhere near as good as the sales photo.

Elvira and her friends will be posed alongside of this dragster when they are finished and on display.

She will be joined at times by Ed Roth and Rat Fink.

I started painting Ed Roth and Rat Fink by beginning with a base coat of black acrylic, then a light shading of white, sprayed directly from the top to create shadow effects. Color paints are acrylic and being applied as a glaze by reducing the paints with water and applying multiple brushed-on coats so as to take advantage of the shadow shading from the initial primers. Well, figure painting, bring it on, Craig. Together with the dragster, it will be a nice and sinister display. The dragster looks cool, when I read loaded with chrome, ... , you may have to redo it, other ways it will reflect like a disco mirrorball.

It´s from the record `Tales of the Rat Fink´ by the Sadies, which I naturally possess.

I'm a newb when it comes to painting figures. Don't expect miracles, please. 😁

Ed's looking pretty good, Craig. Like OC says, you'll do fine..

 

The Rat Fink is definitely a blast from the past.

With the basic colors brushed on, a clear coat seals it all in. Next, I'll do some more details, then a wash. 

If some of the experienced figure painters here have some tips and tricks to share with me, I'm all ears and will value your advice.

 

PS: the first photo I took at a normal setting (auto), the second was done on macro setting. I wanted to see the difference. Looks like the macro captures the light a bit better. I have no clue why.

Looking  good  Craig,   with  the  washes  (mainly to face and hands)  I use this  wash  -   I just  brush  it on and  let it  do its  thing,   just a  case of  brushing any excess away  with a clean brush.  Not to  sure about  weathering  as  mine  is  done  due to  the  muddy  dusty  appearance  my Waterloo  lot  had.

Yes indeed  its  good  stuff   -  like  the  easy use  lid  where  you can  just  use the  brush  out  of the  lid.

It turned out that I had some of it on hand. Looks like it gave old Ed Roth a bit of a suntan.

Pick  out  his  face  and  hand  highlights  if you  want  using  the  same  shade  you  painted  them  prior  to the  wash.
