Del Prado went bust about 10 years ago. Which really is for the better. I snatched up an old Cutty Sark of theirs on Ebay and immediately binned it. I've never seen worse before or after.

Then, because I'm an idiot, I snatched up their dollhouse. With the exact same results.

I think the Dutch value their money, OC ... besides, it's better to buy a complete kit, then wait until the next part arrives ... probablynot a species with lots of patience ...

Yup,

Agree Chap.... I've got a 1/200 Bismarck, Hull complete.

The detail is good but I wanted more, so, went for the Trumpeter version with MK1 detail set.

(God knows when I'll get to that....)

I also have a 1/8 Fokker DR1 partially built , (Partworks/Hatchette)

Its expensive to purchase this way but I guess that it gives an "Opt Out" if your not enjoying things.

For both kits, I've got all the "Bits" and I've seen some really nice RC Bismarck's on a German Web Site,

Casting no aspersions, I think their kits aren't  too bad not too bad, Amati?

Anyway, following the build, looks pretty damn fine at this juncture!!

Cheers....HOF.

Completed Builds:

A/L Bluenose II

A/L Mare Nostrum

Sergal/Mantua Cutty Sark

A/L Pen Duick

A/L Fulgaro

Amati/Partworks 1/200 Bismarck

A/L Sanson

Yeah, it's been mostly Amati with Hachette kits. They've started to branch out a bit lately. The Scharnhorst is by a group of former Amati designers.

... aka the one where things start to get tiny. Not only do we get to cover the front of the forward deck structure but we also start decorating the structure with 9 doors and 32 handrails in different sizes and orientations. This one requires a steady hand, focus and a calm mind.

We've also reached the 35% point, so let's have another look at the entire things so far.

Thanks Phil

We close up the last gaps in the planking on the bottom of the hull and install about two dozen tiny tiny airducts on the deck structures.

And I do mean TINY. Had to be careful not to sneeze

This marks the 40 % completion point, so here's a full view of where we're at right now.

........and you've done some sanding......hull looks very good.  nice 'n smooth :)   I was scrolling down to your new post,  and I saw the sleeper chassis, and I thought it was so neat that it looks over half the length of the hull.   is that the only car you have,  or do you have the entire set?

super looking hull!

Actually still no sanding yet. Sanding will start, when the second planking is finished on the belt armour.

That is surprising. I would have thought that you wanted a perfectly smooth hull, before gluing the armor belt.

The sleeper car is the Orient Express by Amati, that James is building too. I think he has a log up somewhere...

I love trains and collect them at 1/48 scale (O-scale). At Scale 1 (1/32), that car must be incredible. I wish those kits were available in the USA.
