Those canon look wonderful. I debated on whether not I was going to try to rig mine however I decided not to at this scale it at this level of my experience. Now I can just imagine that this is what I actually did for mine.

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to our hobby. Along with your books, publications, workshops, and presentations, you have been an inspiration to many current and former modelers and will continue to be for generations to come. Now with all your free time it seems you have to come up with something else to do. Hope you will share any future projects with us. Now, I just have to get that PayPal spun up again😃

Ropewalk
MEDDO replied to Worldway's topic in Rope Making/Ropewalks's Rope Materials and parts resources
I would like to see some opinions as well. I originally thought I would like to learn how to make rope but after I bought some from Chuck I realized I wouldn't easily be able to make anything nicer. -
I will definitely try the carvings but would also like to have the option of a backup plan.

QUICK-FIND INDEXES to BUILD LOGS FOR KITS
MEDDO replied to Dan Vadas's topic in - Index of all kits by brand and subject
Thanks for this. Lots of work here. -
Thanks Steve. Its 20x8x8 and was $80. So not too bad. Their website has a calculator for any size you can think of. I think the larger sizes get pretty expensive but not sure how they compare to others. For example I put in 62x24x36inch case (seems pretty big to me) came out as $496....

Thanks Bob. I have been contemplating a smaller build next maybe Pinnace or Longboat. Definitely a Chuck Barge when available. The Constitution is probably going to be on a part-time basis for now. I had a build log on MSW1 and maybe if I repost the photos then I may be inspired to get back into it.

I was able to pick up the case I had made by Speciality Plastics in Hamilton Ohio. It was nice to be able to save on the shipping costs. I opted for the mdf base instead of the black or white acrylic base. Now I have to decide on the finish for the mdf. Due to the porous nature of the end cuts its recommended to seal it before final finishing. Then I need to decide to leave it natural, stain or paint it. The case is really nice and they had a fast 2 day turnaround.

Looks like a real interesting project. Only question is are your servers going to hold up to all the orders rushing in when it goes live😁

Congratulations this is a wonderful subject and you really brought out the beauty of her lines. I like the final position of the anchors. Simple and effective placement. Are you going to case her and if so are you going to build it yourself or purchase something? Most important question on finishing up a build is what's next? (need to learn how to take excellent photos like yours)

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
