No magnifiers Nenad? Wow, that's amazing what you have accomplished on such small details without a powerful magnifier. I sure couldn't. Cheers- 4,152 replies

Nice work on the framing Dave! I like your use of the bamboo. Think I'll pick some up when I get some poplar, for my slicing trials.

I can't really tell how big that unit is over-all Matt, but I think a really tiny screw would be better, considering all the rest of the great detail. Maybe send ST 2 out for a daylight raid to a dollar store for a couple pair of plastic rimmed glasses (per Steve's suggestion)? The plastic ones have thicker and wider arms, hence a longer screw. Dollar Tree has them for a dollar. Just a thought.

Always been something of a history buff myself Piet, and even though these stories are printed in books and found in computers, it's still left up to those of us interested in historical events, to pass these stories along to the younger ones verbally, because as long as there's a story to be told about us, or our ancestors, they never really die. They live on in those stories.

Thanks Dennis: Your decals look great from what I can see. I have seen a CD software update available, but not the standard edition on the Testors web-site. Gonna keep checking for it though. Thanks again! Cheers

A fine looking gun there Matt! With all that fire-power, she'll instill fear in the hearts and minds of any man! (And squirrel)

Nice job fitting the keel, stem, and stern-post! Now, after cutting a rabbet next to them, your planks will have something to seat into. The sawdust I would use is some from the same wood as the plank right there. It won't match all of it but having 3 different colors right there makes it tough. The best way would be to pull that section of plank out and cut one with a better fit, then use the darker color on the stem to fill the rest. IMHO. Cheers

Can't wait to see her all put together Dennis. Amazing attention to detail. I'd be curious as to the decal program you're using and whether it's still available and where to get it. I see Hobby Lobby sells decal paper, hardener, and bonder, but nothing else, at least on-line.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
