I've purchased four books on four different occasions from Bob and had absolutely no problems and the books arrived in a very short time. I agree, contact Bobcat here on MSW. Also double check your credit card's monthly statement and see if it was actually charged for the order, it could be the order never went thru properly.

I used them to get parts (mostly bolts) for my ice yacht scratch build - great stuff and fast turn-around on orders. -
Ken, glad to hear that you and the model made it safely across the Bronx's Ho Chi Min trail. It hasn't changed in 20 years. I think some of those potholes could swallow a tank. Enjoy the Atlantic and Long Island Sound and your family stay - it's pretty hot and humid up here in "Upstate" Catskills also.

Great model and great diorama Piet. It is a fitting memorial to your Father. And thanks for the history lesson. Very informative, albeit a bit painful for you, but informative for all of us and very well told. Thanks

I can get Tamiya, Testors and Vallejo here for reasonable prices. Have not seen rattle can Tamiya primer yet but I do have a few rattle cans of Testors primer, does Testors work okay on PE. I think I have a bottle of Tamiya brush-on primer in my stash. Have to look. I've only just started to use Vallejo - mostly on wood tho, not plastic. Have a fair amount of Testors ModelMaster brand paints.

First I would like to thank everyone for your expressions of sympathy on my brother's passing. It was much appreciated. Back to the ice yacht build. After many failed attempts to make a bridle saddle for the gaff I decided to give up and use the split rings instead. Not having the machining or metal working skills and the extremely small size of the piece it was just too frustrating to continue. The gaff is now rigged. Next up is making the sails. The Rocket as it exists today is rigged with modern sails with grommets instead of a bolt rope. I've got some very very tiny grommets I picked up in Michaels some time ago but there is no "anvil" for flaring the back side of it. So I'm undecided as to whether I should replicate the modern sail or go with one that was probably used in 1888. More research is needed on that item. Photos below show the completed gaff as rigged. The pulley blocks are Chuck's SYREN internally stropped 1/4 inch single and double blocks as are the cleats. The jig holding the gaff is copied from a jig Ed Tosti (@EdT) uses. (Thanks Ed for the inspiration. It's easy to build and easy to use.) The silver clips on the tip of the gaff is there just to provide some tension for the lines, the sail will provide the tension when completed.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
