Hi Jon and welcome to Model Ship World. Congratulations on finishing your Polaris. You did a good job on building this model and it came out very nice. I hope you start a build log on your Terror so we can follow your progress. -
You are doing a good job on your Lobster Smack. This kit builds into a nice model. The Shipwright Series of kits from Model Shipways is an excellent way to build your skills as you progress to more complex models.

Congratulations Chuck on this fine build. I have to echo the comments of those above. Truly a masterpiece. The build log is wonderful as it was interesting how you developed the various components and the thought process behind them. Truly enjoyable.

I look forward to following your build. I missed out on getting the Maine kit as BlueJacket only made 100 of them. I did manage to get the limited edition Olympia kit. I have not worked up enough nerve to tackle that kit.

New member looking for kit advice
Ryland Craze replied to JDillon's topic in New member Introductions
Hi J and welcome to Model Ship World. Chris has given you good advice. You mention that you have no prior experience, so you definitely need good instructions to guide you through your build. I would also start out with a simple kit to get use to building a wooden kit. You can download the instructions of many of Vanguard's kits by going to this website: https://vanguardmodels.co.uk/ Good luck on whatever kit you should decide to build. -
Hi Jake and welcome to Model Ship World. We have many Victory build logs on this site. Here is a link to all of them that have been tagged: https://modelshipworld.com/tags/Victory/

Hi Giuseppe and welcome to Model Ship World. I hope you find the plans to the Fram. It looks like this would be a nice model.

I use IrfanView to resize my photos to 1600 x 1200 pixels. Sometimes I will resize to 1200 x 900 if the photo does not have much detail in it.

The 5/32" mark on the planking fan is drawn to reference where the tick marks would be for a plank that is 5/32" wide. It also looks like you will need only 11 planks on bulkhead 1 based on your last picture. The two planks at the keel look like they will terminate at the stem (bow) before they reach bulkhead 1.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
