    Rod, I know just what you are saying< I went down there over a month ago and was in love with everything I saw there. The one mistake I made was I should have check and found out about all the other sites that are there, like John Paul Jones crypt and the other points of interest about the Navy. It was a trip I know I will do again.

    Check out the Proxxons. You can get a smaller 18" from Loews or Home Depot online or even Woodcraft.com. Check Google for an 18". The big price ones are 20" saws.

    Your being to hard on yourself, so you think it taking to long. Learn that taking your time pays off big, never rush, people will always be here for when you post. Heck if you only do one plank a day, well your one plank closer to being done. When you rush you are more than likely going to make mistake and then you going to have to redo it. Take all the time you need.

    I was on that ship when I was a young kid, back in the day. It was dock at Quonset Navy Base in Rhode Island, I was in the Mid-Shipment, didn't want to be a boy scout lol. Always remember that.

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build.
