Your getting there E.J. You know just like the rest of us that the research sometimes takes longer than the build.

Everyone has there ways to do rigging. What works for you might not work for me and so forth.

As far as tools, get just what you need to start with. A good ruler make sure it is in MM and inch, some Exato knives and different blades, sanding sticks and wood glue most people use Tite Bond 2 or 3. As far as the kit I am not sure about it, but that isn't a kit for a beginner, I am sure someone will give a better answer.

Just got home from the hospital today and as long as the power doesn't go out I am all set, have a full tank of oil, stock up on food and other stuff, got plenty of meds and yes even my special meds LOL since I hurt like H*LL so I guess I will just wait it out.

Right on John. Sherline if you can afford it, and like the saying goes you "You Get What You Paid For" why pay twice when you can pay once. -

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
