Your hull looks great Elijah. Now if you decide to plank it the job will be easier. You can use thinner planking if you can get it. Easier to bend and flex. with more support from a solid glue surface. When I was working on my Latham hull I was able to plank it with i used 1/64 cherry and it was a dream. Once smoothed and sealed I painted the hull. .5 mm will work as well.

Looking good Robin, I like that you did not put sails on thus showing the vessel and what everything looks like.

This a sad piece of new. I remember when I was in Iowa City Keith would get my spirits up and learned many things from him as well. I have tried contacting him but never succeeded. I think I speak for many that he will be missed. May the Lord grant him peace from his torment.

I showed your model to my sister and She loved it and said it would be perfect for her class. Teaching both hand craft/art and history. Absolutely beautiful.

While reading up on the USS Wisconsin I came across the USS Eaton. And after a distinguished career with 11 Battle Stars
during WW 2. The Eaton suffered several accidents after the war. In the 1950s the Eaton collided with a surfacing sub. in 1956 during a ASW excercise She colliede with the USS Power (DD-839). on May 6,1956 She collided with the USS Wisconsin. In another accident, the NOTS RUR-4 Weapon Alpha rocket-boosted depth charge projector misfired, with one warhead falling back onto the 01 deck and killing a seaman below.[1]
I wonder how the Cap't and crew felt being aboard her. I would think the vessel would be a "cursed" ship with everybody
wanting to be transferred somewhere else.

That is doing great jesse. And instead of files you can use engravers like watchmakers do. Many years ago at an NRG Conference a member gave a demo on using engravers and how to make them. Basically you can make them from blank drill rod and 1/4 tool steel. Using a moto tool nd a sanding disk or grinder put and angle on the tip about 45 deg. I think and then on an oil stone. with practice you can do many things with them.
My apologies but these were taken years ago and this was the best shots I could get.
I turned down some wood and made handles for them and I have used them many times.
I wish the photos were better but these were taken aon an old camera that was dying on me.
I hope things get better soon.

I found this article interesting. I hope there is a heritage option out there.

I came across this info and it helped me to understand the signals used in the English Navy. I have read most of Kents novels and always wondered about the use of flags to transmit information,
This PDF contains the signal book that was used at the Battle of Trafalger.

Here is where I found it some interesting reading.

Nice recovery. I have almost always had bad luck with sanding drums in tight areas. The main reason is that they are too coarse. I would take a dowel and glue some wet and dry sandpaper to it and then enlarge the hole.

Mario, the Hannah makes into a pretty thing and have seen several scratch build models over the years. Someday I would like to try her out so I am pulling up a chair to keep notes, Have fun.

That is the reason for the standstill, Rigging is not something I like to do very much. Very tedious and so easy for oversized paws to undo everything i did.

This is a topic that popped up on a facebook group about battleships. A very interesting and informative discussion into politics displacement, armor, speed and firepower. I am wondering how the knowledgeable people here would go about classifying these vessels and the reason for doing so.

Outstanding work Greg. I have always wondered about the paint scheme on these pre-dreadnoughts. Whether US or German they are all the same color was there a reason for this? As for flags one of the club members in Chicago gave an excellent demo on making flags. If you contact Kurt or Bob Filipowski who are also MSW members they may be able to help you out. I think a DVD was made but I could be wrong.
