I saw this upgrade from 5 Star models when I was watching @Jack12477, 's build of a Fletcher.
http://steelnavy.net/5StarFletcherUpgrade350FBustelo.html
Then I saw a photo on the net of some oilcanning
So I thought, challenging, detailed (seriously the hardest PE set I've seen to date), I can beat it up, and it's small so mistakes won't be so v
isible.
As it's a US Ship there are a lot of photos but this one will be strait out of the boxes.

It’s very well engineered so as long as you use the template it holds very well.

Apparently they were only used when parked at Harbour, at a pinch they could steam with them but could only make about 3kts. The coal usage was prodigious at about 5 times the usual amount.

There’s a very tasty MK1 design upgrade for it which is a lot more detailed than Infini Models. Keeping to my mantra of 3 per nation, as tempting as Yorktown is, Trumpeter have commissioned the box art for Langley in CV-1 from Randal Wilson (he does most of their box art, and displays his work on FB), which would mean it’s a kit I’d love to build asmy 3rd US ship. Graf Zeppelin would be my third German. I have no interest in Tirpitz etc as they’ve been done here already.

Torpedo nets;
matte black
dark grey airbrushed down the parts where the lines will run, and the edges (it’s so dark you can’t see any details at all otherwise.
dark grey light drybrush
light grey drybrush
dark rust streaks
light rust streaks
green slime along the base.
Result? I just don’t know. No one had colour film back then.
So, as I can’t upload any photos, I’m having the same issues as a lot of others; sideline question;
USS Yorktown CV-10 1944 or
DKM Graf Zepplin ?
