Bob, I will continue my work on the Medway longboat and especially start my next project which will be the magnificent Cheerful cutter.

Glenn, I completely share your opinion on the AVS. It is really a very good model to start in this hobby.

I have officially finished my second ship model.
I have to say the final details took longer than I expected.
The base is also finalized. I used a copy of a maritime map as a background. I just have to add a descriptive plate.
Thanks again to all the people who have followed my build.
I will be able to resume work on the Medway longboat and especially start working on my next project: The Cheerful.
Happy New Year everyone !- captain_hook, VTHokiEE, Dfell and 12 others

As I prepare the base for the Armed Virginia Sloop, I take this opportunity to add the moldings to the base of the longboat.
I created a little jig to cut the angles at 45 degrees.
I also extended the table at the back using a small removable stand to make it easier to cut long planks.
The base has now received its four moldings.
I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy new year 2021 !

No real advancement on the Medway.
I really wanted to finish my Armed Viriginia Sloop construction, this should be the case for the next few days 🙂.
I will then resume work on the longboat.

The two versions are nice. But if I had to choose, my choice would also be on the bottom image.

Beautiful deck planking. Very nice rendering with this coat of wipe on poly.
The boxwood is really a very good choice for this deck.

Thank you for your kind words and thank you to all the 'Likes'.
Unfortunately, the end of the year rhymes with overload of work at my office...
I still move slowly on the final base. I hope to be able to finish during the end of year holidays if I can take a few days of vacation ...
But it is not won... -
What a great ship model. He is really very impressive. Well done !

Thank you for your kind comment on the construction of the AVS.
This sloop is indeed a nice little model, ideal for beginners. I do not regret having chosen it because there are many build logs. The plans published by Model Shipways are very complete (7 sheets) They also include all the bulkheads on the sheet 1.
You can also get them from Modelexpo at the following address:https://modelexpo-online.com/Model-Shipways-ARMED-VIRGINIA-SLOOP-PLANS-7-SHEETS_p_941.html
The price seems reasonable to me.
I have more doubts about the manual because it is a bit dated. We are very far from the quality of the manuals supplied with the Syren kits for example.
But the easiest way to form an opinion is to consult it on the Modelexpo site:https://modelexpo-online.com/assets/images/documents/MS2160-Armed_Virginia_Sloop-Instructions.pdf
On the other hand, Clayton A. Feldman's book 'Modeling an Armed Virginia Sloop of 1768' is very interesting because it has for subject the construction of the basic model having served as model for the kit.
By searching the web, you should be able to find an excerpt from the book in order to form an opinion before purchasing it.I also really like the Emma C Berry which can also be found at Model Shipways at the scale 1:32 and it is of the True Plank-on frame type. Very interesting subject.
Whatever your next model is, I have no doubt that I would have a lot of fun following it.

I am saddened to hear this bad news.
But you have found the strength to offer him this magnificent model and I am sure he is very proud of your courage.
What better mark of love than this splendid vessel.
