  1. Another redodelidumtidumdo ...?
  2. I found my bandsaw (a Metabo, slightly larger too) following the grain of the wood when it needs to cut through thicker wood ( > 1" ), thus making a curved cut. Very annoying. Anybody encountered that on the Proxxon, and if so, found a solution?
  3. Elijah, In most builds, the deadeyes are left the colour the wood has, mostly a dark shade of brown. You could stain them, as that will penetrate the wood. painting will leave you with partly painted deadeyes, as mentioned above, the paint will be rubbed off when rigging
  4. Nice work, Kees. You'll be able te find your tools, materials, and move around. Looking forward to some updates at your leisure. Cheers
  5. As far as I know, a clean cut, depends on the densness of the wood, the sharpness and the type of the drill bit, and the speed of the drill. The harder the wood the easier it is to get a clean cut. Elijah do what feels right to you. It is a hobby, and you will learn, the more from your own mistakes unfortunately, as most of us have
  6. Mike, Looks very good. Luckily we all like a challenge ... else we would turn our hands at origami, or ikebana
  7. Robin, Nice work on those seat belt buckles. I have to keep that in mind. Thanks for the Cognac!!! I needed that after todays paint job. I should stick to modelling, uniquely! The stem planking looks very smooth, she is taking shape nicely
  8. One might wonder: What stands the cluttered desk for ... ??? Jesse, You are brilliant
  9. Seats look promising. Your last aproach seems to bear fruit A kitten to be handled with gloves ... wonder how she wants to be handledwhen she sees the water ...
  10. For the a frame I would sugest brass and silver soldering. Side rollers ...I wouldn't know what those look like
  11. Nice touch, Jack. She's becoming a little gem ... What are you soldering which gives you problems?
  12. Looks pretty sturdy, Nenad. Like the artistic curl on the handle. Did you have a try yet !? :D
  13. Depends largly on the type of drill you use. With some drills it just isn't possible
  14. Clever! My workspace, doesn't look much different ... it's what you're used to
  15. Quite right, Greg, but very educational I might add
  16. Ah, you want the greenish effect! Bronze doesn't get green easily, so copper would be a good choice, but not very easy either. I'll keep that in mind if I get to the other side of the low lands ... You must have some hughe arms, considering the number of bottles you've got :D
  17. You could make it from cast iron ... Tiny, tiny, tiny strong, strong, strong or resin ...
  18. Solid decision, Bob. Some really nice progress!!
  19. Nice finish on the planking, Robin. I would have used brass to get a bronze look, as far as I know it is easier to do. Could you poor me a Hennessy, please Nice collection of airbrush paints ... how do you keep them from unmixing? Can't imagine you shaking your arms out ... Cheers
  20. Take a look here http://www.bradshawfoundation.com/sn/lascaux.jpg, I know your screen is off, but it gives a better impression if you need the natural look
  21. In the Aquitaine (Dordogne), near Lalinde, St Alvers you find red clay. That part, if I recall well even behind Sarlat, has a lot of iron in the soil. The red pigment has been used in the drawings in the caves of Font de Gaume at Les Eyzies. I've been at Lascaux, near Sarlat, which are now, unfortunately, closed to the public. Real stunning drawings ... the pigments are still available, it's just that we lost a lot of knowledge to use them
