    Then your eyesight it far superior to mine. I've seen some fiddly bits in the Pontos set for stairs and such, but I know before hand I'll have my eyes screw up in me head, and I take it there won't be much difference in the Pontos set for your Yamato, maybe even more fiddly. The Tamiya benders were AU$ 57 here in the Netherlands, in the UK AU$ 46 (both exclusive shipping and handling), I'll have a look for a beading shop - put my wig on Cheers mate

    A bit late, but you could have gone for cross metal rods between the two front gallows ... Nice work though it gives the ship some "purpose"

    You could, ......... without PE it's not that difficult for someone of your prowess So I've opened the box of the Musashi for a sneak peek, but that hanger part is quite different from the new tool. I red somewhere that the Musashi was slightly longer than her sister ship. Odd there is no difference in kit length ... Hope to get my study moved to the new location this weekend so I can start on her. Like to see the differences with your build, Greg. Got some more tools coming - yes, PE related. Couldn't resist, but not those Tamiyah tools, gawd those are pricy for a pair of "pliers"

    Julie, Love it when you tell the truth! Patience is a virtue. So it seems, to me it is a pain in the proverbial butt. Unfortunately, if we do not pratice it, it bites us in it. Overshaping ... now how much wood did you spill on those guitars of yours !? More patience ... then ... A mighty fine finish at the rudder side of that keel. Look forward to the remainder of your planking, and building up that mahogany ... Cheers

    The coverings I know from the barges on the IJssel and the Rhine. However, those don't have the rings, and look way lighter than the impression I get here. I know contemporary materials are lighter, and we can do much more with the power tools available to us, but it struck me to see it this heavy

    Nice touch, the dog's rope or is it one of the cat's tails ... a bit early to get that out of the red baize bag ... I've always wondered, the planks on that main hatch cover must have been like beams if you need eyebolts like that on them to lift them ... what's the 1:1 size of them?

    Grant, I'm enjoying the ride of your log. Very informative too! Thus, a question arises: How much varnish did you make to use in the spray gun? Not a lot of waist when using a 44 magnum on a square inch wooden target? I'm pondering for some time to buy such a gun for larger area's, as it takes a long time, even with an airbrush with a .4 needle, to cover a hull of some size. Cheers

    Well I'm still an apprentice in Denis' view, so I'll keep out of the retirees discussion. You have finished the planking up to the rudder. No zoom picture so we can enjoy the craftwomanship you put in that part of your fenomenal work. It does look good as shown though ... Now comes the hard part stem and stern ... a breeze for you I suspect!

    It's a bit hard to imagine such a big frame could vanish ... Did you put a strip at both sides ... maybe it will show some misalignment on frame 7 ...

    Greg, If you have been gardening for two days with a pick axe, I'm amazed you got the parts on straight!!! My hands would be shaking all over. I see I'll be in for a treat when I get the Pontos detail up set ... glad I practised a bit with a 90% brass airplaine at 1/72, mainly fuselage. There are some minute parts to work with ... won't it be hard to get the insideof the hanger painted? The white styrene strips on the walls are your own additions I presume ... It does make it look less ... plastic

    Tony, I've enjoyed your Sherbourne build, and I'm sure I shall enjoy the present build as much, if not more ... Each build we start, and (hopefully) finish, prepares us to improve, for the next build, or another future build. I like Remco's signature, which states to treat each part as a model on itself. I think it makes you get the best out of you for each part. It's a good way to go heads on with the tasks at hand. So I'll be sitting back, relax, and enjoy the view you'll be painting with parts Cheers
