  1. I used to use my shop vac and a brush, but now I use a dust buster and a brush, it has a smaller bag to siffed through later lol. Knocklouder 😁
  2. Raising the yards according to the plans, looks pretty simple . I have looked at some amazing logs on rigging, there is no way this shakey old builder will ever come close to those, but the fun is in the tieing lol. Short cuts will be made , I seem to shake to much for a few things I would like to do but really having a blast modeling. I started belaying ropes to their right number point, lol some have four lines to one number. 🤣 I will figure it out later. All the yards are hung, I just pined them on in the right spot. The pins hold the yards in place while I rig them. Something I pick up from my Duchess build, its a great trick for me. After they are riged , I cut the pins thouch up no one will see. Looks are deceiving, there is a lot of blocks and seizing to be done. This is the part of the build that is up to me how good I make the rigging, but there is WAY to much information about rigging to understand all of it. Thanks to the many logs here, I can make a go of it. At least there is no sails, I may roll some up for the diorama, but that will have to wait until I finish painting this one. Lol That is for another log and another day my friends. Thanks Knocklouder Kurt ⚒️
  3. I got a grin on today, just finished the crowsfeet lines on the main mast and the Mizzen mast. It took me 45 minutes to thread each one , the Mizzen I had to redo have missed a hole and had to backb up two holes kurt says we did good on the crowsfeet lines, but dont let it go to your head. Pause, take a deep breath, now lets lift some yard shell we .lol I can feel the excitement of finishing the build, as far as the diorama we will see. I am all keyed up about starting a new ship lol. I must thank 3 gentlemen that have help so much. @Glenn-UK and @chris watton , those two gentlemen took the time to show me how to do crowsfeet lines, several times lol. I hope I was not to much of a pain in the anchor. And gentlemen number three is @Keith Black , his helping guidedence and tip off the needle threader have help me so much. plus every one else here thanks. MSW/NRG also thanks for being there, it a great place to be, if you want to learn about modeling. Feeling really great full for being able to model, Rodney gave me this model 6 months before he passed today I am greatful for it. Also greatful for my next build, which we will talk about when we open the log, Kurt is getting all Viking on me lol. Thanks for looking in. It is a monster I tell you Bob M Kurt ⚒️

  5. Awesome, great work, ,, I could go on and on. Sounds like I need a favor lol.. No just Gobsmacked at your work. Bob M
  6. You can tint the white putty to any color you like. Light oak, drak wood, mahogany color, cedar, just use what ever color you want mix up a little ball of it . Putty the holes or cracks then wipe off and refinish. That is what I would do. Knocklouder 😁
  7. The foremast crowsfeet lines went better than I thought, some minor adjustments at the start and finish but passable I think. It is like riding a bike once you do a couple of crowsfeet lines they are not bad, I don't want to say esey in case I curse my self lol Kurt says let's finish this we got to raise the yards tomorrow. I love this guy. My good friend @Gabek made me these fantastic gifts for my boats. A light house for my Bluenose, Vikings for my Darkkar, and last and my favorite 14 ir 15 Adélie penguins 🐧 for this Astrolabe voyage to the Antarctic 😁 They look so good , Thanks my friend.. and thank you all very much for helping me learn how to build, if only I could learn how to use my computer lol. Kurt says over here is where the mainmast crowsfeet lines go, I belive that's a hint , thanjs for tagging along. I am having so much fun ☺️ Knocklouder Kurt ⚒️
  8. Keith, wonderful news, I hope you don't mined but I am keeping you and Maggie on the list, just for safe keeping. Your an amazing builder and an even better friend. Bob M. Kurt ⚒️
  9. The bowsprit mast is rigged , I am moving on to the foremast. Kurt says it's time for the crowsfeet lines, Pitter patter let's get atther. The yards are ready to go. The Bobstays were fun, especially the 3mm deadeyes lol. Kurt is turning out to be a valuable addition to the crew , likes the keep to himself though. I think he seen alot, knows alot about sailing and building. He told me we can make the ship's look good, it just takes time, to get to know each other ways, we will get to know each other as we build. Kurt is always looking for something, he telling me about a Swedish ship he would like to rig, sound interesting. Well on to the foremast yards, oh yes the crowsfeet lines lol. Bob M. Kurt ⚒️

  11. Nice work my friend, I will guess that it is an intake air vent, but it was so long ago and far away lol. Bob M. On second thought it is a light. Lol.
  12. Most of the blocks are tied on, some on the booms and gaffs , a few blocks here and there. The Bobstays are next, I must do the crowsfeet lines, maybe tomorrow, can't spend as much time in shipyard as I would like , but winter's coming. Lol. The plans are of no help but I have got all the help I need here, I asked a few people and I am good to go. I can feel the end is near, for this build, I just have to run a few lines and make the anchors and flag. Thanks for looking in. It's been fun. Bob.
  13. Great job my friend , the joy of starting another ship takes the sting out of finishing one lol. Start a big one you have the room now . Congratulations nicely done. Bob M.

  16. The yards have their first coat of black paint and are waiting to dry. Tomorrow I will add the footropes and add as many blocks as I can to all the masts and yards. The crowsfoot lines are up soon We are getting down to just the rigging. I am starting to think about building the Harriet Lane. Lol I have cleaned the display case and have room, lol. This is how she looking tonight. I am pretty excided , as well as the Harriet Lane ,I am about to recive a Billings 490 Wasa/Vasa, depending upon how you want to say it. The ship just left Chicago and is heading north. . I just say wow, got a great deal on it and looking forward to putting a little Knocklouder magic to this build. But first a few loose ends to look at, then diorama time. It will be on ice and lots of Adélies hanging about. Thanks for looking in on the fun.,,,,, Bob M.
