  1. Thanks for the kind words all. Russ - the rubbing strake is 3/32" square with the edges rounded off after fitting (4 1/2" full size). John
  2. Must be pretty good adhesive on that foil if it doesn't deform as you punch the hole in the styrene, Anton. John
  3. Time for another update. The hull planking has now been completed and the rubbing strake fixed. There are still a few details to add to the hull, but in the meantime I'll make a start on the deck planking. John
  4. She looks good on the base, mate, and yep - that's certainly now a lion! John
  5. Very nice, mate, but I think you have a wolf at the moment. A lions face is more of a straight slope down from the top of the head to the nose. John
  6. Nice torpedo tubes, Tim Just make sure that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train coming the other way! John
  7. It's good to hear that Judy's home, Michael. I hope you'll both enjoy some spring sailing in your lovely little yacht. John
  8. Anton, I've made (non working) bottle screws by using a length of brass tube for the body and brass wire for the screws. Just cut the tube to length, form an eye in one end of the wire, pass it through the tube and then form and eye on the other end at the appropriate length. A spot of solder on the eyes and in the tube will keep everything in place. A bit tedious with the number you need, perhaps, but you'll be able to say that you made it! John
  9. Very nice progress. It's good to see all the detail that you're adding. John
  10. She's looking superb, Augie. Here in Sydney, the onset of winter will mean that we get slightly shorter days and, if the weather gets really cold, the minimum daily temperature might very briefly get down to zero! John
  11. Glad to hear that you're over your cold and back in the ship yard! I'm sure you'll come up with the right solutions to overcome the small current problems. Johnb
  12. It's always nice to build a model of one of the ships you've served on! John
  13. Just catching up, Lee. That's one impressive model you're building. John
  14. Just catching up with your progress, Kees. You're doing some beautiful work there - very impressive. John
  15. Those caulking experiments are looking really good, Mike. John
  16. That looks a very nice build. Unusual for a small ship like that to have a wheel instead of tiller steering. John
  17. Looks like you're away to a good start, Bill. John
  18. Nice to see you back, Håkan! This looks like s really interesting project. John
