  1. Good to see that you've been able to get the deck completed, Stuart. John
  2. Don't rule out a scratch build entirely. It's amazing what you can do with the help of other forum members. John
  3. I'm afraid I don't have any insights into kit manufacturers' mind, Zach, except to say that they will produce what they think will sell the most kits. John
  4. Zach, I think that a scratch build will be your only way to a model of 'Endurance'. John
  5. It's great fun, Russ, but be prepared for the most common questions and comments - "Where are the toilets?" "You must have a lot of patience." "Do you build with Balsa wood?" John
  6. Another very small update. Last time I was in the museum I temporarily abandoned the deck clamps in favour of starting to fit the bilge stringers, as one of the other model makers came in and wanted to photograph the process of inserting treenails for an article he was writing and the bilge was easier for his camera focus. What with photos, yarning about model making and an extended lunch in the museum café, I didn't get much done! John
  7. I've only just stumbled across your build log, Kees. You're doing a really good job on your trawler. John
  8. That looks just about acceptable, Toni! In reality - beautiful work. John
  9. Not sure what your problem is with the run of the planks, Remco. John
  10. Wow! They certainly look like beautiful places, Toni! John
  11. Beautiful, as usual, Danny. I particularly like your snatch blocks. John
  12. Just catching up after some time away. Looks like you've conquered the halliards! John
