  1. Welcome back, Doug. Extremely neat and crisp work on her. Will look forward to your progress. Well done!
  2. Really, really looks nice. Your choice of holly was spot on. Looking forward to seeing more progress and curious to see if you decide to paint or go with a natural finish.
  3. Looks great Sjors. I like the more subtle color. A ship that goes both ways......I need to think about that.
  4. I think back, not very long ago, to when Popeye started the Dual Build. What's left besides the 'Triple Play'???????
  5. Hahahahaha. I guess we DO complain a bit about the weather Grant. In fact we have a saying here in the Colorado mountains : 'If you don't like the weather, stick around for 10 minutes'.
  6. Darned it Popeye, you're better than me. Yeah, the D - VIII is done! The D- VII is still in the box. Man, I'm getting old!
  7. Deck looks great. We are all in the summer 'doldrums' with our builds!
  8. Welcome aboard, Thomas!!!!!! You certainly sound excited --- and rightfully so. It's a great kit once you get your problems sorted out. ME does not disappoint. I'm glad that you've decided to share this build with all of us. I'll pull up a chair.
  9. Get the old stuff off, take a day off and then attack with vigor. PS- don't get that new ring caught in the rigging
  10. You had me worried Sjors. Glad to see it was only that you are forgetting to pay your bills. This happens when you get 'old and slow', like me!
  11. Sounds like Sjors has been down all the same paths. Be nice if he told you beforehand ---- but then there wouldn't be any fun
  12. OK TEX! Looking good so far. She sure has a bluff bow. I'm sure there are a whole bunch of folks following along. Hasn't been a log on here for as long as I've been around. Enjoy the repeat on the starboard side. You'll encounter lots of repeats in shipbuilding!
  13. I think your 'instinct' is going to work out just fine. Off to a good start ---- as mentioned by many. Plate on!
  14. That's a LOT of progress! She's coming together very nicely. At 1:100 I'd only use the 'poke and fill' method for treenails to make them as subtle as possible. Others might be able to actually draw nails that size but I personally wouldn't go that route. Well done!
  15. . You crack me up ----- I always called that thing the Brontosaurus !!!!!!
  16. Good lord......has the business community completely forgotten what it means to be a professionally run organization? I must have spent 40 years in Camelot.
