Really, really looks nice. Your choice of holly was spot on. Looking forward to seeing more progress and curious to see if you decide to paint or go with a natural finish.

Looks great Sjors. I like the more subtle color. A ship that goes both ways......I need to think about that.

Hahahahaha. I guess we DO complain a bit about the weather Grant. In fact we have a saying here in the Colorado mountains : 'If you don't like the weather, stick around for 10 minutes'.

Get the old stuff off, take a day off and then attack with vigor. PS- don't get that new ring caught in the rigging

You had me worried Sjors. Glad to see it was only that you are forgetting to pay your bills. This happens when you get 'old and slow', like me!

Sounds like Sjors has been down all the same paths. Be nice if he told you beforehand ---- but then there wouldn't be any fun

OK TEX! Looking good so far. She sure has a bluff bow. I'm sure there are a whole bunch of folks following along. Hasn't been a log on here for as long as I've been around. Enjoy the repeat on the starboard side. You'll encounter lots of repeats in shipbuilding!

That's a LOT of progress! She's coming together very nicely. At 1:100 I'd only use the 'poke and fill' method for treenails to make them as subtle as possible. Others might be able to actually draw nails that size but I personally wouldn't go that route. Well done!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
