  1. there shouldn't be that much curvature. what you can do is: rib #4 - the beam cemented flush with the top of the posts ribs #5-6-7 the beams can be cemented on the tops of the posts. sand the chamber for the water run off, and take down any high spots {rib #1 may need to have this done} there is a slight curve upward at the bow, so don't despair if you don't get it all. hope this helps out.
  2. I commented on that earlier Nenad.........when you fit the deck out more......get the pin rails on, and get her looking busy, I really don't think it's going to show that badly. your doing a fantastic job! exactly........the next build will be better. you've had enough set-backs........time to see you smile!
  3. very nice Vivian.......a little detail in the cabin is always good. I've done a few that had small windows........toss in a few extras, and you can't see it after the roof is on. you have a good direction of how you want the build to go......a build goes much smoother. nice job
  4. looks really sweet Nenad.........stanchioning is a very nice bit of detail......
  5. I'm not so bad........I love a good roller coaster. when I get up on a roof, I need to walk around a bit to get my 'legs'.......after that I'm fine. I haven't had to do stuff like that for quite a while now.......I might be a bit daunted. we went to a concert a few years ago.......our seats were wayyyyyyyyyyyyy up in the 'nosebleed' section. cripes......felt like I was going to slide off the edge! don't lean over the railing..........I joked around about it for a bit. don't think anyone was amused when I hollered out 'Avalanche'!
  6. great progress Michael....such a nice scale for tying knots! super workmanship and added detail gee, the ninth is only a few days away........I'll be sure to wish 'er a happy birthday then........I hope your not in for the 'terrible twos'
  7. very nice and great planking too! very well done! thanks for the link.......I have it bookmarked
  8. you came through your problem quite well! the structure looks awesome if you have any floppy discs lying around, the disc filament would be perfect...........look at Peter Visser's build of the Zeechouw. it works quite well
  9. the only time I've run into a problem, is when I put in a new cartridge. usually I run a picture or two through it, use up some of the ink, and then once when I go to use it, to get the ink moving. I tried the idea of diluted white glue, and found out what it does......that's why i use the decal bonder. I let it sit for a bit to dry, and then I spray it with the bonder........it dries very quickly, and doesn't give the ink time to become solvent and bleed. a light coat to lock it in........another coat to seal it. when the flag is cut out, it helps quite a bit with the fraying issues that can happen. the flag will be two sided, so it is folded over the thread and white glue can be used to do this. it can be stitched as well at this point.
  10. I'm not talking about decals......I'm talking about printing right on the sail cloth. let it set a while for the ink to dry, and then hit it with the bonder......I notice that this product can be purchased separately now. Testors this is the basic decal maker......if you read the description, it will tell you how to get the standard edition {which is what I have} the basic will not allow you to import images and designs, but the standard one will. from there you can alter it and change it to whatever you want, and it even comes with some common decal designs and insignias
  11. your getting there Nenad.......little by little. can you get a flat lacquer where you live? it will dry flat and bring out the grain all at the same time. where I live, I can get a white primer....it would make it easier to repaint that aft bulkhead. lite colored primer.....is the key
  12. neat way of replicating decorative knees........very nice & great progress!
  13. no Nils.......it's my abbreviation for photo etch where do you get it from.......looks very good enjoying your progress so far! that is a really neat way of doing railings........I'll have to remember that!
  14. so, you need to remove that one as well. would it help you, {repaint and make your marks} if you were to make a jig for the height that the windows should be at. just a small piece of flat stock cut to the height that the frame should be. make the marks for the centering and with the structure flat on the table, lay the jig against the front of it. locate the part using the centering marks and the jig. there is also slow setting CA out there on the market. what were you going to put in the frames? darkened cello? you could also use the same jig on all the windows, so they will all be at the same height.
  15. I use a water based filler, and I thin it down to a thick cream, instead of the consistency of paste. I use an auto body filler spreader to apply it, so it fills in the gaps, but doesn't leave a lot on the surface. sanding takes half the time......a lot easier on the arm
  16. exactly Tim..........everything has it's moment. never heard of un-cure, but if you just stripped the paint.......then that's no big deal. just paint her back up and you'll be back to square one in no time
  17. looks awesome Andy :) it's a good thing you know your way around this ship........you won't lose track of where you worked on her last ! nice progress thus far!
  18. I've run sail cloth through the printer...........I have the the Testor's decal maker. I import the flag design, size it with the program, and then print. then I spray it with the decal bonder to prevent the ink from running. it's easy to shape after it is assembled on the rigging.
