  1. Mistakes? I don't see them. I just a beautiful model being built.
  2. Jim, I went ahead and removed your email addy. As Allan mentioned, you would get tons of spam.
  3. Welcome to MSW, Michael. We're not just about tall ships here. Feel free to open a log in the scratch area for this model.
  4. I'm in also on this. I well remember those cars. BTW, Lou... I saw this in your post: But in 1070, when owned by Motschenbacher these wings were outlawed. The year gave me a chuckle...
  5. Hi Simon. First models can be , shall we say, challenging. And yes, a log will be a big help to you. Also, if you'll go here... there's a number of planking tutorials which go a long way in helping you plank her. https://modelshipworld.com/forum/98-planking-downloads-and-tutorials-and-videos/
  6. This fits my feelings on this to a "T". Just ooo-ing and ahhhh-ing at every photo.
  7. Ah... cool... something to haul your Ferrari to a show without getting the tires dirty.
  8. Is this a "new" kit or one you picked up maybe on Ebay? You might try emailing Amati and see if they have set of instructions in English. Here's their website: https://www.amatimodel.com/en/
  9. Welcome to MSW, Pat. Looks like we have a few logs of that kit here on MSW. I suggest that when your model arrives, that you open a log in the Kit Log area. It's the best way to get help and meet other builders.
  10. Welcome to MSW, Mic. I'm looking forward to you choice of builds and seeing a log.
  11. That would probably be the best thing to do.
  12. It's a mixed bag for me... shopping online or the local hobby shop. It's survived by adding things like bicycles and maintenance. They've been expanding their shop with more plastic kits while cutting back on the wooden ships. Also adding RC car stuff along with a still large amount of flying model airplane things. The pandemic has been a boon to their business. Usually a short line out front and the inside at capacity with distancing, etc.
  13. People or not, this is still an amazing and fascinating diorama.
  14. Same here. Lovely work on the airplane, but it is miserable to work on the roof in winter with the snow and cold.
  15. Welcome to MSW, Jas. Do give some serious thought to a build log for reasons others have mentioned. It really is the best way to get help and encouragement.
  16. Well said, Bob and Druxey. Between the weather and the virus normal deliveries are slow going. Dealing with small businesses really is a joy even if one has to wait. If they go, we'll end up with Amazon and Chinese ripoffs and next to no new legitimate models.
  17. Not a tree crash or a P-40. But had a DVIII control line flyer back around 67 at aviation school in Memphis. A rather huge beast for the control line, around a 3' wingspan as I remember. Flew well and was heavy with a large motor (.75?). A control line snapped and the plane got away from me.... right through the window of the base chapel which was next the base hobby shop flying area. I did immediately fess up but received no punishment. Even the engine was shot as it bent the crankshaft. I started looking for a less destructive hobby after that.
  18. Just beyond incredible. It really is like walking down a medieval street. Will there be any citizens about?
  19. Chimp, after you're done sanding and filling and sanding, have a look at that planking tutorials here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/98-planking-downloads-and-tutorials-and-videos/ I suggest looking through all of them and pick the one that feels good to you mentally. The first layer just has to be smooth and fair.. no highs and lows.
  20. I'm putting in my reservation for a seat to watch this. Great subject and a beautiful ship.
  21. Henry, Post the pics of it here then when you have enough info and start the resoration, open a log in the Scratch area and the key word "Restoration" to the title.
  22. Fixed the title. Not sure where this log is headed but sounds interesting. An extended bug bus?
