HMS Bounty by AdamA - 1:48

Nice looking wood. Where did you find it? -
Sorry, it's been so long that we fed that batch to the birds. I'll have to drag the machine here from where ever I left it. On the other hand, there's what appears to be some excellent adult beverages that might go well with popcorn. Now to go find that darn machine......

I'm glad you got it solved. I've seen problems like this but transient in nature. A restart of the browser or even a re-boot usually (but not always) fixes them. -
As for the blue.... there is a recent book on this topic. I have two links to it.

If I just look at the finished work, I'd swear you used cast iron for the engines and pump. Incredible detail going on.

Nice save on re-doing the lanyards, Dan. Watching this makes me think you have the patience of a saint and language of a sailor which together works some miracles.

Justin, Don't feel bad. Every new journey into uncharted territory has it's problems. Starting over is often the best as it re-enforces the lessons we've learned. I think you've made the right choice. Sometimes things are salvageable and sometimes not. Hang in there. You'll get and the result will be great.

No. I've never had to do that. -
To rabbet or not?

Here's the index for that era of ship. Scroll down to the logs for the Fly by Victory. A quick look at the build logs will show you how to do it. The catch is... some don't and not all methods are the same. -
VW samba bus conversion by kpnuts - Revell - 1/16 - PLASTIC
mtaylor replied to kpnuts's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
Thanks for setting me straight on the lifts. I guess I'm just too old-school to keep up with all the new tech. -
Welcome to MSW, Gaz. When you're ready, feel free to start a build log as it's a great way to meet others and also get help.

Pete, Go to the Kit area and at the top there are indexes (still being worked on) and this document: It should help get you started. You can also do a search here on MSW and see what turns up.

That is the bravest thing I've seen in quite awhile... parking that car under the lift. -
Time to bring this log up to date and maybe call it "proof of life" during the virus. After being unhappy with the first strakes and ripping them off, I did them again... and again. Finally happy. It's just 6 rows but methinks I'll be picking up some speed on the rest. I still need to give it some more sanding and a bit of filling and also finish opening the gunports to upper sills. The starboard side has been trimmed and as I said, needs more sanding. The port side is only planked at this point. Overall, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Much of my memory has returned since the stroke and that helps in sorting things out. In the background is the planking wood waiting for me to lay into place. Here's photos....

Welcome to MSW, Paul. The Pup looks great. Looking forward to your build log.

A beautiful and extremely detailed model, Doris. Thank you for letting us follow along. I am especially touched by the two figures on the deck. If I remember right, this is you and your husband. A very fitting tribute.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
