Hello Krupi, welcome to MSW. Once you get your model, start a build log as it's a great way to get help and meet other builders. Also, you might want to read this topic as it has some great advice such as starting small before going large with guns, masts, and lots of rigging.

Good to see you again, Nenad. And good that the back pain is easing along with news of Hot-Head. Stay safe and I hope the Covid stays away.- 4,152 replies

Welcome to MSW, Alan. My suggestion is open a build log on your ships you're working on and when ready to start a new project, open a log for that. It's probably the best way to get help and also meet other builders.

Welcome to MSW, Steve. Chris gave you the best answer.

Welcome to MSW, Kris. I hope you'll do a log on the Medusa. Sounds like an interesting and unique ship.

Welcome to MSW, Mike. Good luck with the restoration. If you decide to do a log on restoring it, open a topic in the Scratch area and be sure to label it "Restoration". From here, it just looks like a good cleaning and perhaps straightening out the sails. I remember those models from way back when and even saw some in the PX in 'Nam. Mass produced and didn't cost much. But still there's sentimental value attached to those who own them. So, do a search in the Scratch area for "Restoration" in the title and also in other areas like rigging for just restoration and another for "cleaning" and "model" (use both words for this). There's lots of posts on doing restorations and cleaning.

Lamborghini Veneno by CDW - Fujimi - 1:24 Scale - PLASTIC
mtaylor replied to CDW's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
These weren't replicas, Lou. Ford produced X-number of each model (and still do I think) for "street use". They have creature comforts and a "de-tuned" engine among other things to make them street legal. The racing ones all seemed to go to museums or high dollar auctions for high roller collectors. It didn't take much to convince me not to try to buy one of the street versions.... same price as a house (at the time) and VA wouldn't approve a car LOL.... I don't think my wife back then would have approved either. -

I would say that comes under the heading of "builder's choice". Some do, some don't.- 8 replies

I did some Googling a few years ago thinking I'd like one. Surprising how many are out there on the market and prices were, maybe not affordable to me but still a lot less tha new. These were the street versions, not the racing ones. -
Welcome to MSW, Tom. If you want, open a long on your Lancaster in the "Non-Ship Model" area which part of Shore Leave. Many ship modelers take breaks and do an airplane, car, etc.

Michael, sorry to hear about Tyra, your fur baby crossing the Rainbow Bridge. The memories of them last us forever and that's good thing.

It looks as if one of the guards is already down. Nice touch though having the beast go back to climbing the wall. -
Your plan sounds reasonable to me. I've seen at least one or two done like that.

For the round Xacto handles, a simple way to stop rolling is to put tape "wings" on the upper portion of the handle. I use this a lot not just for Xactos.... but pens, pencils, small screw drivers. Any small round object that can roll.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
