  1. Been there, done that with the wood supply. I now mik the wood and run it through a thicknesser before using. A PITA but it pays off in the long run.
  2. Yikes... you weren't kidding about that warp. I'm glad they are replacing it for you.
  3. I wish both of your children well. It sounds like they need to find a good place to be for work and life. There is nothing better for a child than a supportive parent. I hope has many good adventures ahead.
  4. Welcome to MSW, Lou. You might consider posting what you have found on the Lanikai along with your questions here: https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/forum/13-ships-plans-and-project-research-general-research-on-specific-vessels-and-ship-types/ It almost sounds like the Navy bought a comericially built ship.
  5. Thanks for the explanation, Wayne. I have Lavery and Lee's, so it's probably time for HMS Visa to take another hit.
  6. Glad I could help. I've done that myself where I got buried in one aspect of a project and spaced it on another part. And yes... senior moments.. the bane of all of us.
  7. Excellent work, Keith. And you have a very smart wife. So what day are you taking off?
  8. It's great to hear from you Nenad. You have been busy. Yes, those little guys (dogs) require attention... but to me, that's a good thing. Your daughter is moving out of Serbia? I hope she'll at least come back for visits. Lady friends are good... No rush on getting back here... take your time and do what you need and want to do.
  9. Looks good from here. Pity you can't combine the motion limit switches with the LED switches. Might simplify the wiring even though it might create problems with voltage requirements for the various bits. I'm an old fan of keeping the mechanicals simple because... well... kids and/or exuberant teens and adults.
  10. Wow... Sjors. That's a lot of painting and it all looks good. I'm surprised you're doing this by brush instead of spray can. Wasa has a lot of carvings like that and I got lazy and used spray paint.
  11. I think we're all worried, Nenad. Let us know if you can.
  12. Goodwin? I have one similar but not exactly titled as "The Arming and Fitting of the English Ships of War: 1650-1815" by Lavery. How similar are they?
  13. You already answered my thought... limit switches should do the trick to kill power and stop the swing arm. I'll assume a multipole switch such that it can reverse the voltage for moving the other way?
  14. Beautifully done, Dan. I was expecting to see vacuum forming also, but could see what you're up against as to size and curves. Even more impressive that it was done without vacuuming.
  15. Wow!!!! Super nice work, Patrick. The Owner's Stateroom is turning out super nice. I think I'll just walk away, shaking my head, and muttering to myself about the beautiful details.
  16. Thanks for the likes and support. I think it's right thing to do. I'm still on the learning curve or maybe a straight line that vertical? There wasn't much to remove and I'm cutting wood to size and sorting some odds and ends out. Having new glasses to adjust to is slowing me down also. I hope to make progress here soon. Already gone, Pat. I figured that staining that little amount of wood just wasn't worth the hassle. I did consider it, though. Carl, Holly is almost pure white as is whitewash.
