If I ever do lights again, I'll use bus bars of copper wire and pick off my lines to the LED's that way. It'll save the nightmare of trying to run each LED individually. Lesson learned here.

Since you're using the Golden Hind as your base, go with it. The only real visible difference was that a pirate ships flew a flag... when they did.. some but not all. Some were upgunned with more guns but basically they wanted to look like the ships they wanted to capture. Some would fly English colors to get in close to an English ship, French for French, etc. Early stealth tech as such.

Steven, The glue and sawdust works very well. Use a 50-50 mix of water and white glue and then mix in the sawdust to a putty like consistency. As always, test first on some scrap as describing "consistency" is a variable.

Nice work on the lights, Tom. It can be a headache to sort out the wiring. As for the weather... it's summer... it can be too hot to be outside. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

That sounds like a good plan. Any career that one doesn't have to put in 80 hour weeks is a good one. I should have thought of that before I went from Engineering to IT. -
Looks to be a brilliant solution to pesky problem, Dave. I can't wait to see the final result.

Thanks guys. So far, I'm able to do just about everything I could before... there's a periodic brain fog but it's disappearing rapidly. I hope to push the envelope this week and test fire the laser and cut some parts. Now if I can just get the love of my life to slow down on her missions...

Frank, I'm with the others... a build log would work well in the scratch area. Hope we'll see it soon. -
Been too long since I updated this... by way of explanation I posted here rather than clutter of my log:

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
