  1. Welcome to MSW, Patrick. Once you get the kit and have looked it over, do a search for other member's logs of the ship. After that, your head should be filled with ideas. At that point, jump in.
  2. Lyle, Have looked at other build logs for this ship? Often someone else has been through what you trying to find.
  3. Thanks for the explanation, Richard. It had me curious.
  4. Bob, what Patrick said. Can't argue if there's no proof.
  5. Great news that you're feeling better. Hopefully the healing continues for you and the admiral.
  6. Seems it would be a napalm like mix. The question is... do you ignite it like a flame thrower or after it's sprayed? The article doesn't say so it may not be lit off at all. Just asking for scientific purposes....
  7. One thing about using CA for this is to use the thinnest CA you can find. I find that regular CA is sometimes to thick to go though the block hole. I dip the thread in the CA and then run the glued end between my fingers to remove the excess.
  8. Beautiful and clean. Wonderful build, Chris.
  9. The former Rose after some modifications was only used for the long shots and a few weather deck shots. Any parts of the film "on deck/below deck, etc."were done on the various "stages" and floating mockups.
  10. Thanks for clearing that up, EG. Been a long time since I lived in Dayton and memories get murky.
  11. One thing of note... the Wright's were one of the first, if not the first, to build and use a wind tunnel for testing models. The wind tunnel still exists in the AF Museum in Dayton, Ohio. Memory is a bit foggy but that be a replica with the original in the Smithsonian.
  12. That site is a deep rabbit hole, Thanks.
  13. I can see where your headed and will continue to follow along. A ship is a living creature and changes with time so seeing what you produce will be fascinating to watch.
  14. I'll have to try that, Kurt. I've always just used a shop vac along with the "light touch" Chuck mentions.
  15. Welcome to MSW, Janelle. Feel free to open a build log on your projects as it's the best way to meet others and get help.
  16. I think you'll find that there's a serious lack of info on the original due to the shinagins done back in the 1970's. If you haven't done so, have a look here: fouled_anchors-1.pdf Short version, plans were changed and some destroyed,
  17. Welcome to MSW, Lyle. You might consider opening a build log for your current project. It's a great way to meet others and also get help when you need it.
  18. I guess the suit and tie would be required for an Olympic event? With no tacking, running into the wind might be an issue.
  19. I'd say the answer is "yes" also but without the qualifiers. Let the viewer decide. Almost like asking "which came first ... the chicken or the egg?".
