  1. Thanks for a nice words and the "likes". David, I'm using cherry for the frames, keel, stern post, and stem. I'm planning on using boxwood for the planking. The various fittings are sort of up in the air as I won't be adding the rudder or thwarts since there's a boat stowed inside of this one. Back to mumbling to myself and feeding the scrap box.
  2. Indeed she is in a sorry state, Jan. But the ship name is the name of the photo and I'm trying to Ted to post a new one without the name being in the title...
  3. It continues to be amazing, Michael. Almost too clean and precise...
  4. Ah... good beginnings. Or maybe it's re-beginnings. Looks great, Robbyn.
  5. Sjors.... a bit of Google here... Overvloed foto geëtste versieringen. I think. If not.. pfffffffffff.
  6. The details, the furniture.. just boggles my mind. Very impressive.
  7. Nice work on the hammocks, Toni. And the sleeping sailor is a very neat touch.
  8. Ah.. Ted. I hate to tell you this but the name of the ship is JPG title. I suggest you pick another ship but rename the picture to something like "mystery ship" or such. Now if the picture name is a red herring, I apologize.
  9. Ray, There's a fore and aft platform but the water barrels would have been laid on their sides and "mixed" in with the rock ballast. I'm trying to find a good link here.. I think the Victory Cross-Sections in the kit area show this.
  10. Quick update: Most of the frames have been cut and shaped. Once the keel is in place, the half frames at the bow will be shaped and installed. I'm working on the keel, transom, and stem now.
  11. Grant, Very well done. You're on the final stretch now.
  12. Beautiful work on the stern framing, Mark. I guess that if we knew how the old shipwrights did it, we could duplicate their methods and make modeling a bit easier on ourselves.
  13. Jarrod, Have you tried drilling the hole first? Otherwise, lightly glue the piece to piece of sacrificial scrap with PVA. Drill and cut, and the soak the wood in alcohol to separate them. Otherwise, buy some better wood.
  14. Great looking knightheads, Matti. The Wasan is a alive!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Looking great, Meredith. You are flying along on this one.
  16. Nice choice on the planking. It looks good. I hope the spice will continue to flow.
  17. Beautiful work. It's almost a pity to dull it, paint it, and copper it.
  18. In the States, all shotgun pellets are now steel and have been for quite a few years due to environmental and wildlife concerns. What Shihawk said is probably the best way. You might even go the local gun club and explain what you want and size. I'm sure someone will help.
  19. Nice work, Ray. As for updates, the "how much" you have isn't important. Post when you feel like it. Can be one part or a dozen.
  20. Nice work Augie. It's good to hear that you're finally getting some Spring there. We wouldn't want snow season to run into fishing season. As for points East.... sheeesh.
