  1. Beautiful family, Michael. I reckon we know who the proud grandfather in the background is! Congrats!
  2. Hi Jesse Marvellous! A true family heirloom for sure. I guess, in light of its fragility, you'd need to pack it away pretty securely so that it can be displayed for many more Christmas' to come. Cheers Patrick
  3. Amazingly impressive work, Piet! Nicely done. Patrick
  4. Hi Jesse Very nice!!! I must say, though, that of all the various genres of model boat building, it's SIBs that mystify and captivate me the most. I think it's got a lot to do with the "Whoa...I'm too scared to try that!" mentality that sticks in my mind. Well, maybe one day, I'll be brave enough to try one. Great job, though Jesse. Like Mark said, it's sure to look great hanging off your tree. Cheers Patrick
  5. Hi Dimitris I'm just catching up with your latest photos of the bowsprit with the gold decorations and figure head. The portholes look great as well. Really impressive work! As Nils has said above, the rigging's not far away. I'm looking forward to seeing the next phase. Cheers and all the best! Patrick
  6. Hi Michael Beautiful workmanship (as per usual)! Congratulations on being a new Grandfather as well! Great news. Cheers Patrick
  7. Hi Nigel, Bob, Michael and Ben Many thanks for all of your comments and for those who hit the Like button as well. Michael-thanks for your question. The hull material is Evergreen styrene sheet, which is light, thin and seems perfect for the job. Hope this helps. Nigel-welcome aboard and thanks for your well wishes, too. Cheers Patrick
  8. Thanks, George, David and Dimitris and everyone who hit the Like button. Greatly appreciated and it's nice to get back to building again. All the best! Cheers Patrick
  9. Hi everyone I'm back!!! Thanks for all the well wishes-greatly appreciated! Well, over the past couple of nights, I was able to use the wooden plug as the mould for Majellan's hull. The results are below, which show the rough hull removed from the plug. Please note that it looks rough and messy, only because it is! Next job is to sand all the putty off, add the transom, etc, etc. Lots of work to go, but it's good to at least get back to building again. Thanks Patrick
  10. Hi Denis She's really coming along nicely, especially with the decks and superstructure added temporarily. By the way, is that your Half Moon making a cameo appearance in the background??? Looking good! Cheers Patrick
  11. Hi Bob The link to the ship that you've posted is a marvellous resource. Talk about a 'wealth of detail' in those plans! I'm really looking forward to following along. Cheers Patrick
  12. Hi Brian Wow! She's a real looker! Coming along very nicely, indeed. Good luck with the fitness regime...just remember that if it ain't fun, you ain't doing it! Oh wait, your personal trainer may not entirely agree.... All the best! Patrick
  13. Hi Jesse Yep...really nice job on the copper plates. I'm in the 'patina' camp, because I've always thought it looks more weathered and, hence realistic; but that's just me. Whichever way you choose would look just as good. Nice job! Cheers Patrick
  14. Hi Mike Lovely shots of the mast and rigging. She's one hell of a pretty boat, that's for sure! Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi Bob I'm joining Jack in the front row! Cheers Patrick
  16. Hi Lawrence Many thanks and very much appreciated! Cheers Patrick
  17. Hi Giorgio '...you can't do better' with the scroll work? Looks great to me, as does the rest of the ship. Nice and clean work. Cheers Patrick
  18. Hi Jesse The last photo of the sea looks great, as does the first shot of the fully rigged ship. I reckon you must be on the tail end now. Not long to go, now! Cheers Patrick
  19. Dear Sherrie My deepest sympathies, Sherrie. These are difficult times and I wish you and your family my sincerest condolences. Please look after yourself and your family. Take care. Patrick
  20. Hi Panagiotis Marvellous work and congratulations on a truly beautiful model. You've got to be really chuffed with it! I'd also imagine that your ship generated a fair bit of interest during the exhibition, especially seeing as it's a Greek warship. Additionally, like you, I'm keen to see the water shots, so, hopefully it'll be a quick winter. All the best! Patrick
