  1. Hi Richard I agree with George about the lights. She's gonna look great and I'm looking forward to some night time shots! Cheers Patrick
  2. Hi Nick, BDGiantman2, Denis and Carl and everyone who hit the Like button! Nick- thanks for the compliment. Have a go and I'll definitely be following along. It's great fun doing these small models and they take up hardly any space. BDGiantman2 - thanks for your query about the wheel. Yep, there's still heaps more to add, including the stern cockpit's wheel and binnacle, winches, etc. I also have to add the steering wheel in the centre cockpit, life rafts, railings, masts, etc. Denis - thanks. I had thought about doing a collapsed cover, but, it just got too hard; so, I settled for doing it this way. Thanks for your suggestion, though! Carl - thanks. The cardboard mockup certainly looked strange, but at least it did the trick! Cheers and all the best! Patrick
  3. Hi Dave Nice work! Just wondering, though, if you're meaning to say 'companion ways' instead of champion ways'? Cheers Patrick
  4. Hi Tony I keep forgetting that you said that this is your first scratch built boat. Damn. She's good! Keep the updates coming. Cheers Patrick
  5. Hi Igor and Nigel Nigel - I think you're right about the canopy. The more I look at it, the more I agree that it adds a special point of interest to the overall appearance. So, in a way, it's growing on me! Thanks guys! Cheers Patrick
  6. Hi everyone Many thanks for all of your comments and Likes. Well, after much deliberation, I've decided to go ahead with the canopy, using the cardboard mockup as a template. I've also seen numerous photos of the real ship underway with full sails, with the canopy up; so that was part of my decision to continue with it. Thanks for all of your input. I hope I've made the right decision to go ahead with it! Anyhow, here's the latest photos. Thanks and all the best! Cheers Patrick
  7. Hi Chrome Performance anxiety??? Nah. As long as you're enjoying your build, so are we all. I'm looking forward to seeing how you pull it all together! I must admit that the use of photo etched brass on the hull is also a stroke of genius. If ever you need help, there's a whole bunch of us on the Forum who'd be willing to assist. All the best Patrick
  8. Hey Ben! Great kids and bubby looks nice and happy. Who's a proud Dad, then? I know that your Admiral and kids are your first priority at the moment, (as they should be), but I'm looking forward to when the time's right and you're able to get back into the boat and post your next update. All the best Patrick
  9. Hi Chrome Now that's one very sweet looking hull you're building!!! I'm going to be looking forward to following along. Mind if I pull up a front row seat? Cheers Patrick
  10. Hi Jesse She's looking great. It's amazing how every little bit of detail that's added, just brings her to life! I especially love the stairs and the ship's boat. Nice job. Cheers Patrick
  11. Hi Richard That's certainly one beautifully designed hull...loaded with charm and character. You're doing a really nice job of pulling it together, that's for sure! Cheers Patrick
  12. Uni Igor Nice rigging! One query though. As the bottle has the swirl pattern on it, would the visibility of the ship be impeded? Cheers Patrick
  13. Hi Frank I've been waiting to hear how you'd gone with the treatment. Sorry to hear that all is not well so far, but pls stay positive and I'm sure it'll all work out. In the meantime, rest up and take it easy. Cheers Patrick
  14. Hi Denis How could I have missed this build log????? She's looking really nice, especially the ship's boats. Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do, though! Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi everyone Thanks for all of your comments and Likes - greatly appreciated! Symphony has a large white collapsible canopy over the main cockpit area to give protection from the weather. As I was curious to see what it'd look like, I did a very rough cardboard mockup of it. To my mind, it looks a bit funny, but oh well, if the real boat has it, I might as well try to replicate it on my model. Also, if you look carefully, you may be able to see that I've planked the bow and stern areas of the deck, thereby leaving the remaining areas of the deck exposed for viewing purposes. Anyhow, here're the latest photos. Cheers and all the best! Patrick
  16. Hartmut! The hull's looking really nice, especially the fine detail work you're putting into the stem. Nice! I'm looking forward to the next update. Cheers Patrick
  17. Hi Timmo It's really nice to watch your hull coming together. Nice framing and nice planking! I'm looking forward to your next update! Cheers Patrick
  18. Hi Nigel Really nice work on the windows. But, the balcony deck is just mesmerisingly beautiful. Are you sure that you're not secretly a piano maker by any chance? Cheers Patrick
  19. Hi Dave She looks absolutely magnificent! Very impressive. I especially like the gild work and the bell tower itself, which is a true reflection of your skills. Can't wait for the next update once you're fully recovered. Cheers Patrick
  20. Thanks David Greatly appreciated! Cheers and all the best. Cheers Patrick
