Hi Igor It's interesting to see the process you're using to make the sea. I'm sure it's not as easy as you make it look, but it'll be worth it once done. Cheers Patrick

Hi Denis I can't believe what a week you must've had. From the joys of a new grandson, through to a storm, flooding, an injured son and, everything else in between! Yet, despite all of that, you still manage to churn out a beautiful looking winch! I don't how you manage to juggle everything, but you always seem to do it with aplomb. I'm certainly envious of your ability to do that. All the best! Patrick

Hey Mark I think you're too modest, because we're learning just as much, or even more, from you. Mighty fine work as always! BTW, 1/8th of an inch is well within my comfort zone! In fact, it's not even worth breaking a sweat over it

Hi Elijah. Yep, but it's not a swimming pool as such; but more like a spa. Regardless, it'd be a great place to relax! Thanks Patrick

Hi Frank, Denis, Bob and Nenad Many thanks! I hope you're all well. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Cheers Patrick

Hey Denis. Great news about the special delivery. Baby No. 6 chose quite a night to make an appearance, by the sounds of it. I hope all are well. Cheers Patrick

Hah Nils! I just had a little chuckle. Those vents reminded me of a whole bunch of meerkats checking out the view. All standing up straight and facing the same direction. Where's David Attenborough? Nice work, of course! Cheers Patrick

Hi folks! Just a quick update on Shadow. I've been concentrating on getting the external superstructure built. So far, most of the general shape is there; well enough to see the beauty starting to come through. Still heaps to go, but time's been limited lately. Hopefully, I'll be able to get more time later. Have a great weekend! Cheers Patrick

Hi Michael Tragic as the damage is, there is a something fitting about how the restoration has landed in your lap - you know, built by master craftsmen at Bassett-Lowke and now, restored by a modern day, master craftsman by the name of Michael Mott! There's no doubting that you're up to the task. I'm in! Cheers Patrick

Woohoo Jerry! Seeing the boat in the water will be a massive milestone. I'll be looking forward to seeing the photos as well. At least then, you can look back and admire your hard work. PS - No photos of the crabs??? Cheers Patrick

Hi Vaddoc Brilliant! 'Tis great to see the hull finally taking shape in the building board. She's big, that's for sure. However, enough of the boat. What's this about the stork flying over your house

Hi Denis Wow! Very nice. Each photo I look at, brings up more and more detail to see. You must've been really busy and productive in between your updates, because there's certainly been a lot of great progress to date. Cheers Patrick

Hi Jone I'm just loving all the details you're putting into her. Simply lovely! Cheers Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
