  1. Hi Piet Ok, I can be patient...no pressure of course!!!! I must admit that this suspense is not good for my nerves, especially when I know that your miniature marvel is already complete. Looking forward to seeing a sneak peek of the diorama resting in your talented hands. All the best! Patrick
  2. Hi Keith Amazing. If truth be told, she's more than a model. She's a piece of beautiful art. Love it! Cheers Patrick
  3. Hi everyone Thanks for all of your Likes and comments - Bob, yours especially! I'm getting there, I swear!!! Well, I've finally returned to working on (lots more of work still to go, of course) the internal fit-out of the Lower Deck. In particular, I've added more doors, cupboards and panelling to the internal cabins. I've also added a 'bit of life' to the walls and bulkheads by hanging various pictures and pieces of modern art (ok - use your imagination here!)...this is a modern luxury cruiser, of course. I hope you like where the internal decoration is heading! Cheers and have a great weekend, folks. Cheers Patrick
  4. Hi Kees Just noticed that you've been a bit quiet lately. I hope all's well and that you'll have more updates around the corner, soon. Cheers Patrick
  5. Hi Piet Tiny, fiddly and challenging, but, oh, all so good. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the final product! Cheers Patrick
  6. Hi Nils ...30 lifeboats? 30 did I hear you say??? Yep. I think anything that'll cut down the workload to build those things is gonna make Nils a well rested fella! Resin casting? Sounds like a great idea, Nils. Cheers Patrick
  7. OMG Denis!!!!! I've read, and re-read your post above, a number of times today and BANG, it's like you're sitting in my head reading my thoughts!!!! Why? Because that's exactly what I've been thinking lately. Even though the lower deck does require a lot of work, I have been thinking exactly what you said - a little tweak here and there, an addition or two etc. To make matters worse, I've been putting off the lower deck work, preferring to fiddle above decks, for some reason. So, to read your post was kinda spooky. What's more, I totally get what you're saying in the poem! Really nice and yep, I will be pretty chuffed when Majellan's finished, that's for sure. Thanks and all the best! Patrick
  8. Hi Mark Now there's a thought! Interestingly, there's apparently a fleet of these ships in reality. All of them vary slightly from one another, dependent upon the owner's particular whim and fancy. In building Majellan, I've taken various ideas from each of these sister ships and combined them into the model, itself. I'm glad you like it, even if she's a bit of a hybrid...! Cheers Patrick
  9. Thanks Piet! I love trying to push myself to see how much detail can be added at this scale. Not always easy (particularly with my skill level, but, it lots of fun trying)! Have a good'un! Cheers Patrick
  10. Hi Nils Lovely work as usual! Watching your ship grow with each update is like 'food for the soul' - i.e. nice and satisfying to watch. More please!!!! Also, with respect to the third photo, I can easily imagine a man and woman, in period costumes, strolling along the deck, sheltered from the rain by the deck above, whilst being bathed by spray from the ship's progress through the waves. Talk about atmospheric! Cheers Patrick
  11. Thanks Frank I actually hadn't thought about a rotating base, but that doesn't sound like too bad an idea. With respect to the rest of my models, I store them in a multi-shelved glass cabinet in our family-room, for all to see. It's not a bad solution, because it keeps the dust out quite effectively, whilst still allowing people to view them. Cheers and all the best. Patrick
  12. Hi folks! Well......my mama always said to share. So, here I am sharing some more photos of Majellan's exterior. Most notable are the test fittings of three of the four umbrellas. The fourth umbrella is lying off to one side whilst its glue dries. I also reckon that the small area of deck directly in front of the Bridge's windows looked a bit bare. To address this, I'm toying with the idea of placing a small arm chair, along with a table for the odd guest, or two, to enjoy a sip of their cocktails whilst Majellan's underway. You can just make out the table and chair in some of the photos. By the way, the third last photo is my absolute favourite, so far. Why? I dunno. I just reckon it is, that's all. Thanks for all of your comments and Likes, as well. Cheers and all the best! Patrick
  13. Nice progress since your last update. Keep up the good work. Cheers Patrick
  14. Hi Rich and Frank Couldn't agree more! My thoughts are along the same lines, too. Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi Carl Thanks - yep. I have a list that's permanently etched onto my forehead! Sadly, it keeps getting longer and longer. One day....one day... All the best! Cheers Patrick
  16. Hi Bob She's just simply lovely! ...talk about heaps of charm and character. Cheers Patrick
  17. Thanks Bob Still lots of work to go. Once the outside's finished, I'll then move onto the lower deck's accommodation, which still requires a fair bit of work. After that...Launch Day!!!! Cheers and all the best. Patrick
  18. Hi Carl Thanks for your compliments. I thought the same thing when I saw your ship, as well as Igor's and Piet's teeny tiny marvels and all of the other miniatures on MSW. But, at the end of the day, it's all about trying and pushing our respective limits to see what can be done. Have a great week! Cheers Patrick
  19. Hi Frank Wow!!!! I know I've commented on the quality of your work and the care that you put into each aspect of the ship, but seeing you milling the mortices for the framework, really takes the cake! Lovely. If it was me, I'd have been lazy and simply butt-jointed the framework, but you went the extra mile and made a brilliant job of it. Milestone's reached and conquered, I'd say! Cheerst Patrick
  20. Hi folks Thanks for all of your comments and Likes! Today, I had a day-off work, so, I set about making Majellan's port and starboard navigation lights. I also added a bit more detail to the ship's tender in a bid to make it look a bit more convincing. Lastly, I repainted the jet skis. I hope you all enjoy the photos! Cheers Patrick
